Solid around Wolverhampton since the turn of the year (4,2,1,2); and beaten just 1½L by Maratha in a C&D handicap earlier in the month. A winner of a claimer over the extended mile prior to that, he must go close in this grade.

Not won since April 2017 (1m4f at Kempton), and this six-year-old was tailed off over a similar trip here on his latest start. Dropped in trip and into selling company, but with something to find at the weights as well as form wise.

Top-rated (79), this stablemate of What Usain was a C&D winner for this rider in January, beating Wonderfillo by 1L. Consistent on the whole since until a lesser effort latest (finished behind Barnaby Brook), but much better treated on these terms.

An 11-race maiden with an official rating of just 48. Pulled up after weakening quickly in a 1m Class 7 Kempton handicap latest and disconcerting to see him slip quickly into a seller thereafter.

Old-timer who is eased in grade seeking a winning opportunity. Out of form when last seen at Newcastle in February, she's stood little racing since last summer, so couldn't be entertained.

Forecasts

Tha'ir (4/7), Barnaby Brook (7/4), What Usain (14/1), Cabal (33/1), St James's Park (66/1)

Verdict

THA'IR drops into a seller and is best treated by the weights based on handicap ratings (79). Despite finishing a well held four places behind Barnaby Brook over C&D recently, he should gain his revenge on 13lb better terms (effectively reduced to 6lb by Elisha Whittington's 7lb claim). Oisin Murphy steered Tha'ir to victory over C&D in January, and he should be plenty streetwise enough to expose the relative inexperience of the rider aboard his sole realistic danger at the weights.
