Well treated on the pick of his turf form for previous trainer Patrick Holmes, but badly out of sorts when last raced on turf in August 2017. Guessing game with regards his level of fitness on stable debut.

You have to go back to July 2013 to find the only win on his CV, in a Windsor maiden (1m) for John Gosden. Has run a couple of fair races at this track, but both of those efforts were over 1m4f.

Still a maiden after 13 attempts, but has raced consistently from this mark during the winter. Went under by just a neck to Tifl over C&D in November, and also a runner up at Southwell in late January.

Bounced right back to form from out of the blue when winning at Wolverhampton (66/1) on his penultimate start, and probably better than the bare result latest (met trouble in running), so must be considered as a serious contender.

Stays this trip, but all three of his career successes have come over 7f. Finished in the frame at Wolverhampton over the weekend (6f), but is a tricky horse to deliver with a winning challenge; needs dropped in on the line.

Broke his maiden tag over C&D early last month, and followed up under a 6lb penalty a week later. Looked very much in need of a longer trip than 7f on the second occasion, and let off lightly with just a 2lb rise.

Not won since making all over 1m at Musselburgh in May 2016, and generally saves his best efforts for that East Lothian track (three time runner up there since). Raced over further lately and looks a non-stayer, so is well handicapped.

He's fine at this track (6f to 1m), but consistently struggles to shed the maiden tag (now 0-26). Beaten just 1L by Kiwi Bay in a C&D claimer in August 2016, and he's now rated a whopping 16lb lower.

Ultra consistent mare who is now a 35 race maiden. She tries hard and deserves to find a race, but there's not an awful lot of her, and that's why shes always vulnerable.

Handles this surface, but is returning from a break (off since June 2017), and is another who just can't manage to win a race. A return to this shorter trip might conceivably suit this 25 race maiden.

A 15-race maiden who has shown bits and pieces of ability, but nothing more. Tumbling down the weights, and his last visit to Newcastle was in the farcical race won by Outlaw Torn (1m2f).

A lowly rated 15-race maiden who shouldn't be troubling Lukoutoldmakezebak on last month's 7f course evidence. Makes no appeal.

Had shown very little when trained in Ireland but stepped forward on her Fibresand debut (for a new yard) albeit at a modest level chasing home an easy winner. Entered at Southwell on Thursday, and familiar with Tapeta from home.

Forecasts

Lukoutoldmakezebak (7/2), Scrutiny (4/1), Jessie Allan (5/1), Street Poet (6/1), Mr Potter (12/1), Adventureman (14/1), Framley Garth (14/1), Inshaa (14/1), Da Capo Dandy (14/1), Irvine Lady (20/1), Captain Peaky (20/1), Magistral (20/1), Lord Rob (20/1)

Verdict

With respect to connections, this rates as very low grade action, and features many long-standing maidens which include Jessie Allan, Inshaa and Lord Rob. LUKOUTOLDMAKEZEBAK was of a similar ilk until shedding his maiden tag over C&D last month, and he followed up over an inadequate looking 7f just a week later. He has plenty more to offer from his current mark (2lb higher tonight) and he should relish this return to 1m. Of the others, there's probably a few out of form, but reasonably handicapped sorts lurking, although Scrutiny would appeal as the likeliest danger to the selection.
  1. Lukoutoldmakezebak
  2. Scrutiny
  3. Street Poet
