Unseated when favourite on debut at Ludlow but returned there to record a 3L win (soft) next time. Not far off that form under a penalty at Huntingdon last time out and needs to find a bit more to record a second success. Repected.
Not sold for £17,000 in last year's spring stores sale. Closely related to useful 3m-3m1f hurdle/chase winner Singlefarmpayment. Was a 24L fourth in a 2m point-to-point in January and likely to need this first rules experience.
Cost 4,800 gns as a three-year-old and this Kalanisi mare has plenty of stamina on dam's side of her pedigree. Ran well enough on debut to be 9¼L sixth on Tapeta at Newcastle last month. Tough ask for her on this ground first time out on turf.
Refused to race when made favourite for her debut point-to-point at Witton Castle last April. Dam won several of those, plus 2m4f-3m4f chases. Made a decent debut when 10-1 and 4L second at Musselburgh last month. Can improve and has claims.
Has been sent off at big prices for both runs so far and probably performed as the market has suggested, being beaten 20L on debut and 22L at Wetherby (heavy) last time. Hard to see her making an impact on that evidence.
Vendor buy back for £4,500 at three. Half-sister to 1m2f Flat/2m hurdle/chase winner To The Sky out of a 5f juvenile winning half-sister to two Listed winners/useful hurdlers. Stable 0-30 in this sphere, so probably one to watch.
Forecasts
Sea Story (9/4), Indian Opera (5/2), Colorado Gold (3/1), Donnas Dream (6/1), Lancaster Rose (12/1), Alice Lisle (14/1)
Sea Story is the one they all have to beat here as a previous winner, but she showed last time that penalties remain difficult to defy in this discipline and the suggestion is to take her on with INDIAN OPERA. Iain Jardine's mare put behind her some unruly behaviour prior to a point-to-point that she had been due to contest when going well on her rules debut at Musselburgh and she can make the most of the weight she receives from Kim Bailey's charge. The others all have plenty to prove, though perhaps Donnas Dream could emerge as the next best.
- Indian Opera
