Fairly talented on the Flat, but yet to really get the ball rolling over jumps. Blotted his copybook at Catterick in December (refused at the first), but picked up minor money next time when finishing 24L third to Dieg Man.
Didn't quite get home when beaten less than 1L by Jassas in a 2m novices hurdle here in November (good), and possibly not aided by encountering softer ground since. No issues on the AW, but his Flat career never progressed beyond 1m3f.

Finished third (rated 93) in the Thirsk Hunt Cup in May 2017 for previous trainer Brian Ellison, but failed to fire in four further starts before moving on cheaply for 800 gns in November. Stable debut.

Her career highlights so far all came during her bumper campaign, winning by 10L at Carlisle in May 2015. Had two years off thereafter, and hasn't come back as the same horse; albeit has been hurdles placed.

Won her last two starts in bumpers during the spring of 2017 (Wetherby and Kelso), and has done okay since switched to hurdles, finishing a 9L runner up to handicap snip Lord County over 2m here on handicap bow in late January.
Has shown a mixed level of form since joining this trainer from Jeremy Noseda. Once fetched £85,000 as a juvenile, and his sole career success came on the AW (Polytrack) at Kempton in September 2016 (7f). Slight stamina reservations.

Flat maiden (rated 73). Performed reasonably well since switched to hurdles, and finished 8½L third to Uptown Funk at Musselburgh on New Years Day (2m). Denied a chance to race at Catterick on Tuesday (abandoned).

Regressive 15-race Flat maiden who hasn't shown any improvement for the switch to hurdles. Very difficult to consider.

Forecasts

Jamacho (5/2), Stipulate (4/1), Heartasia (5/1), First Up (5/1), Big Thunder (13/2), Inniscastle Lad (8/1), Boogie Life (10/1), Tael O' Gold (100/1)

Verdict

Those horses that are likely to figure towards the top end of the market are all much of a muchness on both hurdles and Flat ratings, and these include Big Thunder, INNISCASTLE LAD and Jamacho. Both Brian Ellison and Donald McCain should be applauded for supporting these additional jumpers bumper fixtures, whilst acknowledging that other trainers might like to, but simply can't travel at present, so it would perhaps be fitting for one of that pair to saddle the winner. The McCain trained selection has stamina to definitively prove over 2m, but handles synthetic surfaces well enough and could be the solution to a rather tricky looking finale.
  1. Inniscastle Lad
  2. Jamacho
  3. Heartasia
