Novice chase winner in the autumn and ran wellto finish fourth at Sandown (good-to-soft) back over hurdles in December. Return to smaller obstacles should suit having pulled up over fences last time.
Had just four starts since joining this yard but was a winner on soft ground over an extended 3m at Doncaster last month and followed that up by finishing runner-up under a penalty. One to note despite a 14lb rise in the weights.
Dual winner over around this trip on good ground last year and placed in a Listed handicap at Cheltenham on seasonal debut. Stays further and interesting despite pulling up at Cheltenham last time.
Useful four-year-old in France in 2016 but lost his way for Gordon Elliott. Satisfactory debut for this yard when fourth over 2m4f at Uttoxeter (heavy) last time and this step up in trip looks likely to suit.
Successful on each of his last two hurdles starts including on good ground over 3m3f at Sedgefield in November. Held over fences since and races off a mark 4lb higher than for his latest success.
Victorious over fences 12 months ago and best effort since came when finishing third over 2m3f in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell(heavy) last month. Outclassed over fences latest.
Absent for well over 18 months prior to finishing second of two on chase debut in December. Fallen twice in that sphere since and reverts to hurdles today.
Bumper winner on good ground for Brian Eckley and recorded his first hurdles win since joining this yard when successful over an extended 2m3f at Catterick (heavy) last time out. Stays this trip and one to note on handicap debut.
Forecasts
Kansas City Chief (7/4), Sun Cloud (5/1), Sam Red (13/2), Rocky's Treasure (7/1), Jaunty Flyer (8/1), A Vos Gardes (8/1), Jeannot De Nonant (10/1), Minella On Line (12/1)
SAM RED can provide Dan Skelton with a winner in what looks a competitive handicap hurdle. The selection made mistakes when disappointing over fences last time out with today's forecast going conditions and the switch back to hurdles both likely to suit. Kansas City Chief has been in good form in recent starts and while a beaten odds-on favourite last time out he looks capable of running well again today and can finish second ahead of Rocky's Treasure who remains open to improvement having had just six starts to date.
- Sam Red
- Kansas City Chief
- Rocky's Treasure
