Successful on heavy ground at Fakenham lastmonth and put an unseat behind him when finishing runner-up off this mark on soft ground at Sedgefield last time. One to note in this contest.
Placed a couple of times in this sphere in the spring but disappointed at Towcester (2m4f, good-to-soft) last time out and returning from a break today.
Likely winner when left well clear at Catterick (soft) in a handicap hurdle over an extended 3m1f last month. Well held since however and races off a mark 3lb lower than for that hurdles victory on his return to chasing.
Nine race maiden and held on both starts over hurdles since joining this yard. Beaten favourite at Bangor (good-to-soft) on his only chase start so far when trained by Kim Bailey.
Placed four times from five starts in point-to-points. Fair effort when 20L fifth on handicap debut over hurdles at Wetherby last month and is quickly switched to fences.
Placed in a point-to-point in spring 2016 but struggled in five rules outings including on handicap and chasing debut at Leicester (2m, soft) in a first time tongue tie (retained) recently.
12 race maiden including in three starts for this yard. Signs of ability when third of six on heavy ground over hurdles at Wincanton last month but pulled up since and making his chasing debut today.
Unplaced in seven starts over hurdles including twice in handicaps. Worth a check in the market on his debut over fences.
Put a run of four non-completions behind himwhen finishing third in a handicap hurdle at Taunton (2m3f, soft) earlier this month. Making his chasing debut from out of the handicap today.
Forecasts
Wood Pigeon (6/4), Red Danaher (5/1), Normandy King (6/1), Champion Chase (8/1), Coudefoudre (8/1), Chase Me (10/1), Run Don't Hide (14/1), My Diamond (14/1), St Merryn (33/1)
Top weight WOOD PIGEON'S recent outings have been blighted by jumping issues but he looks capable of taking this contest if putting in a clear round. The selection was a winner at Fakenham last month and showed that he remains in good heart when finishing second at Sedgefield on Thursday. Of his rivals today the veteran Red Danaher won off a higher mark over hurdles recently while Normandy King can register a third placed effort in his last four outings returning from a break today.
- Wood Pigeon
- Red Danaher
- Normandy King
