An eight-time winner on the Fibresand and he's taken four of his last five starts here but he hasn't been seen since running poorly on turf at York last May. A return this surface may well spark him back to life and dangerous to ignore here.

A winner on his second start on Fibresand over 1m4f he built on the promise of an initial run here to score narrowly last time out. Raised 4lb for that win he should be able to cope with his new mark and go well again on a surface that suits him.

Hard to fault his record over this C&D (2141321) although his last win here came in an uncompetitive event off a 4lb lower mark. Has won off higher marks in the past and hard to rule out of the equation on his favourite surface.

Now very much going the right way for this yard with back-to-back wins on the Tapeta to his name at Wolverhampton (bolted up under a penalty last time). Both his wins have come over further though and this will be his first taste of Fibresand off an 11lb higher mark.

His Fibresand record reads well (43112) with an unblemished record over C&D and he seems really suited by the surface. Not seen here since beaten by a real improver on the surface and despite a laboured effort last time a return here may well see him blossom again.

Fairly useful handicapper on the turf although he's not won on the level for quite some while. Underperformed on his only start here last time out; dropped 4lb for that run but still one that is hard to recommend for now.

Strong stayer who has generally gone well on the Fibresand and is 2/2 over C&D. Ran with credit last time out over 2m2f and may well be suited by a return to this trip and should be capable off this mark; solid chance.

Has run his best races on Fibresand at this trip (212U) although he didn't get far last time when unseating the rider coming out of the stalls. Has twice run well since then at Wolverhampton (ran into a thriving sort last time) and will welcome a return here.

Ought to be suited by this surface but has produced two laboured efforts here the last on handicap debut. May have needed the run last time out but still has improvement to make to trouble the principals.

Comes here with an unbeaten Fibresand record to defend (2/2 here) although both her wins have come over 2m. Showed up well over hurdles last time out and only 4lb higher than her last win here.

Forecasts

Great Return (5/2), Jabbaar (5/1), Shine Baby Shine (6/1), Caged Lightning (13/2), Brigadoon (8/1), Good Time Ahead (10/1), Samtu (10/1), Tatting (12/1), Multellie (16/1), Last Chance Paddy (20/1)

Verdict

A staying contest with some depth to end the card with plenty that have scored on the Fibresand over this distance and further. Great Return can’t be included in that group and despite his good recent form he makes his debut here but is by a sire (New Approach) who has yet to have a winner on Fibresand. Jabbaar and Samtu are both suited by this surface and should run well with Caged Lightening another who is always capable of making his mark on Fibresand. Shine Baby Shine will be dangerous even off her new mark but a chance is taken with GOOD TIME AHEAD who has compiled a good record here and could well appreciate a return to a surface which saw him show improved form.
  1. Good Time Ahead
  2. Jabbaar
  3. Shine Baby Shine
