Well travelled, versatile, and has proved a real flag-bearer for his trainer. A three time winner over this trip, he scored over 6f for the first time in a five runner Conditions Stakes at Kempton last month and ought to be thereabouts.
Progressing quickly through the ranks and arrives seeking a hat-trick following a pair of 5f Wolverhampton victories. Proved far too strong for his lesser rated rivals on both occasions, and has earned the chance to step up in class.
His career highlight so far came when making all to land the three runner Ripon Horn Blower Conditions Stakes in August (6f). Has been gelded since his last appearance in October, and was an AW Listed third at Dundalk (7f) prior to that run.
His form figures over 5f and 6f here this winter read; 6,2,1,2,1,2,1. However, he takes a massive leap into the unknown tackling much stronger rivals (never raced above Class 4), and faces a very difficult task at the weights on handicap ratings.
£20,000 Exceed And Excel yearling who made a winning debut over C&D last month (novice stakes), beating Choice Encounter by 2L. Sure to improve with that experience under his belt, but this rates as a much stiffer assignment.
Acclamation colt who cost 70,000 gns, and was a most impressive debut scorer over 6f here last month (beat Dubai Acclaim by ¾L). Apparently that success wasn't totally unexpected, and whilst this is much tougher, he's tricky to gauge potential wise.
A 5f winner at Yarmouth on debut in May, he's kicked about in Listed or Group races on turf on each of his last four starts. Not beaten far when sixth in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes in October, he lines up fresh for his AW debut.
Forecasts
To Wafij (2/1), Corinthia Knight (11/4), Stone Of Destiny (5/1), Lake Volta (7/1), Desert Doctor (8/1), Nearest Green (10/1), Lord Of The Glen (20/1)
The final Fast-Track Qualifier of the 2017/18 All Weather Championships season to be run at Newcastle sees a compact but classy field of seven line up over a flying 5f trip. Both Corinthia Knight and To Wafij are undeniably the classiest pair of performers in the line up on official figures with the latter named taking a drop in class for his AW debut after mixing it unsuccessfully in Listed and Group contests on turf. Nevertheless, a number of the other runners are unexposed and improving performers on Tapeta, with Desert Doctor seeking a hat-trick following a pair of 5f Wolverhampton victories, and Nearest Green set a much stiffer assignment following his C&D debut victory last month. The selection STONE OF DESTINY was also a Newcastle debut scorer (6f) in January. He won with an immeasurable amount in hand under a ultra confident ride from Jamie Spencer, and it could be worth chancing that he's an above average performer who is capable of stepping up into stronger company with the minimum of fuss.
- Stone Of Destiny
- Corinthia Knight
- To Wafij
