Made the frame over C&D in a classified claimer latest, but was beaten 15L by the winner Dream Magic. Not looked the most straightforward since leaving the care of Brian Ellison, so rates as a risky proposition.

Has mixed hurdling with AW racing this winter, with more of a focus on the former than the latter. Remains a maiden on synthetics (0 from 9), but was beaten just over 2L when third to Shine Baby Shine at Southwell in January (2m+).

A seven time AW winner who drops back to the same mark that he scored from by 2L at Chelmsford in September (1m2f). Not the most consistent overall, and the jury is out with regards track and trip.

Now an 18 race maiden, with her current trainer seemingly unable to work his magic on her just yet. Beaten in a seller at Lingfield in July (1m2f), and whilst she might be fresher for a recent run, makes minimal appeal.

Proved he just about stays this trip when winning by a head in a similar race over C&D in May 2017. Handicapped to have a say, but was disappointing when last seen in early November (1m1f+).

Never on terms in a Class 5 handicap over C&D last week; which brought her tally to 0 from 17 on synthetics. The percentage play is therefore to look elsewhere.

Bought for just £2,200 in November, and overall hasn't shown much aptitude for racing. Relatively untested on the AW (can be excused a Southwell effort in January), and was placed off a mark of 102 over hurdles latest.

Showed little ability in a couple of starts for Dermot Weld, and offered little more on stable debut at Dundalk in early January (1m2f+). Worth a try over a longer trip and not totally exposed in first time cheek-pieces.

Plugged onto finish a well beaten third in a Lingfield seller late last month (2m) and is now 0 from 11 on the AW. Hard to imagine her making her mark on the strength of that evidence.

A winner over a similar trip on debut for Ed Dunlop in June 2017 (good to firm), but sold cheaply the following month for 5,000 gns. Not shown much for this trainer, but her mark is falling, and a reduced trip is a positive.

In reasonable form for John Joseph Murphy over 1m at Dundalk in the early part of the winter. Sold for 16,000 gns in December, and by Derby winner Pour Moi should appreciate this trip. Top jockey booked for stable debut.

Consistent on the whole, but without winning since scoring by a head over C&D in January 2017 (beat My Renaissance). Well treated nowadays, and has a talented young rider booked to do the steering. Wears first time cheek-pieces.

Forecasts

Compatriot (5/4), Sevilla (9/2), Tred Softly (8/1), Cool Music (9/1), Frozon (9/1), Ormskirk (16/1), Enola (16/1), Filament Of Gold (25/1), Bohemian Rhapsody (28/1), Estibdaad (33/1), Fidaaha (33/1), Chestnut Storm (80/1)

Verdict

An Amateur Riders event to kick off the Wolverhampton action, with jockey bookings as enlightening as recent form. The excellent Lisa O'Neill is booked for the mount aboard COMPATRIOT who debuts for shrewd handler Olly Murphy. This horse showed that he handles synthetic surfaces well when trained in Ireland by John Joseph Murphy, despite being restricted to rather inadequate looking trips. By Derby winner Pour Moi, he should relish this step up to 1m4f, and it'll come as no surprise whatsoever if he's a much improved performer tonight. Of the others, Tred Softly merits consideration with James King aboard, whilst Fidaaha isn't totally exposed after making just three previous (poor) starts.
