Not beaten far on hurdles debut when 100/1 but hasn't quite managed to build on that in two subsequent efforts and may do better when returned to better ground than what he will get here. Makes handicap debut and steps up in trip.
Was becoming a little bit disappointing until a pair of runner-up efforts, latter of which coming here on Boxing Day when just touched off. 5lb rise in the weights looks a little harsh for that though and others may prove better handicapped.
Dual course winner who is versatile when it comes to ground but probably needs a bit further than this these days. Probably doesn't have much in hand off this sort of mark either and others make more appeal.
Sole win came at this course over 2m but largely out of form since that run and needs a recent wind operation to have a dramatic effect if he's to get his head in front here.
A 24-race maiden across either side of the Channel and while he's been largely running well in defeat since joining this yard last year, he took a step backwards when showing very little last time out at Towcester. Each-way claims if bouncing back.
A 20-race maiden on the Flat and yet to get his head in front in eight NH runs. Ran okay at Bangor in the summer but handicapper put him up 4lb and he wasn't quite as effective last time. Has an absence to overcome and others hold stronger claims.
Showed bits of promise in bumpers and improved a little on handicap hurdle debut at Ayr last time out to finish third of seven having been well beaten on three previous hurdles runs. Dropped 1lb for that and not ruled out stepped back up in trip
Still a maiden but best form has come on heavy ground so won't mind conditions here. Dropped 5lb for his most recent disappointing effort at Kelso but worth keeping an eye on the market to see if support arrives on second start after a break.
Best form tends to come at Sedgefield but getting to the veteran stage of his career now and probably worth opposing when considering his losing run goes back over two years and he's out of the handicap here.
Pulled up or tailed off in all eight starts under Rules and no better in first-time cheekpieces at Newcastle last time. That headgear retained and big leap of faith needed to think he can turn it around here.
Pulled up or tailed off on nearly every start and near impossible to fancy her from so far out of the handicap. Wears first-time blinkers.
Forecasts
Along Came Theo (5/2), Star Of Namibia (7/2), Cowslip (4/1), Northern Girl (7/1), Allfredandnobell (10/1), Dulce Panem (10/1), Pookie Pekan (12/1), Fiddler's Flight (16/1), Herecomesnelson (25/1), Cully Mac (33/1), My Brown Eyed Girl (66/1)
Along Came Theo has turned the corner of late and was only just beaten here last time and while a 5lb rise for that effort looks a little harsh, he shouldn't be far away. Dulce Panem is a long-time maiden but he has shown he's capable of finishing in the money at this level. However, a chance is taken on NORTHERN GIRL stepping back up in trip here. She showed promise on handicap debut last time out and if she can take a step forward from that effort, she may be able to get her head in front from a workable mark.
- Northern Girl
- Along Came Theo
- Dulce Panem
