Won Downpatrick bumper last summer before going on to win a 12f Fairyhouse maiden on the Flat in heavy ground in October. Not seen since and makes hurdles bow under a penalty for that bumper success.
Steadily progressing over hurdles and ran creditably when 4th of 21 in heavy ground Punchestown maiden hurdle last time. Appears to handle conditions so should be more or less on the premises.
650 euros yearling by Darsi. Dam winning hurdler. Appeared to regress for Willie Mullins after a fair start when third in modest six runner Downpatrick. No better than mid-division in two hurdles for current connections. More needed.
Beneficial mare who has hinted at a modicum of ability in two starts to date without ever threatening to be a player. Looks the sort to do better once handicapped.
Knocking on a bit, but won two point-to-points last year then made a promising Rules debut when 3rd of 21 in Punchestown maiden hurdle three weeks ago. Has to be considered on that effort running here in similar ground.
Mahler mare who has looked slow in two starts so far being beaten an aggregate of 191 lengths. Very hard to enthuse over.
Has shown signs of ability on all six starts to date without, including five bumpers and on hurdles bow ast time when fourth at Trumps Ace. Might be one for handicapping but not ruled out here.
Daughter of Westerner bought for just 1800 euros as a yearling. Not shown a great deal in two starts so far, and while it's too early to write her off, she needs to take a step forward today to figure.
Started at 100/1 on both starts to date, never being placed to challenge when well beaten on both occasions. Others make far more appeal.
Third in Tramore bumper in December and ran well for much of the way when finishing ninth at Clonmel last month on first hurdles outing. Has potential place prospects on that evidence.
Gold Well mare makes her racecourse debut. Dam half-sister to two dual purpose winners. Likely to benefit from the experience but any market interest would be worthy of note.
Flemenfirsth mare making ehr racecourse bow. Half-sister to six winners and dam related to a number of winners. Represents top yard whose newcomers normally know their job. One very much for the short list.
Forecasts
Tell Me Annie (9/4), Countess Cathleen (3/1), Decision Time (5/1), Trumps Ace (7/1), Turanga Lilly (10/1), Slieve Coillte (12/1), Hiupinthesky (16/1), Belle West (20/1), Mangan Julia (25/1), Granny Maura (25/1), Filly Mullins (33/1), Thatwasthen (33/1)
In receipt of 8lb a chance is taken that TURANGA LILLY can make a winning debut. She's well related on the dam's side and newcomers from the yard are usually ready for business. The big danger is the bumper and Flat winner Decision Time, proven in these conditions and making her debut over timber. Tell Me Annie has done little wrong so far and comes into the reckoning, while Trumps Ace and Hiupinthesky are others who may well figure.
- Turanga Lilly
