Once held a rating in the mid 90's and, though clearly not the force of old, he's had enough about him to win twice over C&D from his last three starts. Dangerous to dismiss from plum draw despite 5lb rise.

Wolverhampton maiden winner over an extended 1m who then flattered to deceive for Hugo Palmer. Reappears for a new yard off a lower mark but well-being taken on trust. Market should guide

Gained the last of his three wins off a 7lb lower mark at Brighton last summer but has climbed the handicap since without winning. Went close over 1m2f at Lingfield last time following a spell hurdling. Down in trip.

Lingfield maiden winner over 7f for Roger Charlton last spring but never kicked on in handicaps. Signs of encouragement on reappearance for this yard when 5L behind Lacan over C&D and should come on for that.

Flattered to deceive for Ed Dunlop after a facile maiden win at Newcastle but almost sprung a 33/1 upset on his debut for this yard over C&D when beaten ¾L by Lacan. Unlucky in running that day so could feasibly reverse form on better terms.

Made a winning debut over this C&D last winter and also bagged a handicap at Goodwood in the summer. Best effort since when a 3L fourth over C&D on his reappearance but doesn't appear to have room for error off present mark.

Chelmsford-specialist, having won three times there from his last four starts, including last time out over 1m. Mark has shot up as a result and not always as effective elsewhere but dangerous to discount in his current mood.

Good strike-rate, having won 10 from 52 and is equally adept on AW or turf. For all that, he has never won off a mark this high and he has a fitness query to answer having been off the track since August.

Forecasts

Lacan (11/4), Oud Metha Bridge (7/2), Samphire Coast (4/1), Jumping Jack (13/2), Manchego (7/1), Cyrus Dallin (8/1), Kingston Kurrajong (10/1), Zefferino (12/1), Admirable Art (50/1)

Verdict

The rejuvenated Lacan looked on good terms with himself when beating both Zefferino and OUD METHA BRIDGE over C&D recently but the last named could be the one to take out of the race. On what was his first start for Julia Fielden after a lengthy break, the four-year-old was beaten less 1L despite meeting all sorts of problems from an outside draw and it may not be beyond him to reverse form on 2lb better terms. Samphie Coast has been in tremendous form at Chelmsford this winter but he's less convincing elsewhere and Kingston Kurrajong may prove a bigger danger having ran well for a long way over C&D on Saturday.
  1. Oud Metha Bridge
  2. Lacan
  3. Kingston Kurrajong
