Bought for £65,000 after an Irish point-to-point win in December and confirmed the promise of that with a 9L success in his debut bumper (2m1f, soft) at Sedgefield last month. Likely to be very competitive again under his penalty.
Cost €40,000 as a three-year-old and then just £7,500 last year. Closely related to a point-to-point winner out of a once-raced half-sister to 2m Flat/very useful 2m hurdle/chase winner Topacio. Stable 2-24 in bumpers this season.
Belied his 40-1 SP on debut when running well to be 9L third at Ayr (heavy) 13-months ago, but then 9-2 and disappointing when last seen at Hexham in April. Stable in good form and 3-9 in bumpers this season, so could go well on reappearance.
Cost €78,000 at three. Sent off at just 3-1 for his debut at Ffos Las (heavy) in December but was beaten 3f out there, perhaps due to the ground. Stable 2-15 in bumpers this season and in decent form, so he can probably improve.

Forecasts

Windsor Avenue (1/9), General Custard (8/1), Big Bad Dream (10/1), Amarone Gentleman (25/1)

Verdict

It's never easy to win one of these under a penalty, but the nature of WINDSOR AVENUE's Sedgefield success suggests that he is probably capable of seeing off his three opponents to follow up in this. Big Bad Dream could leave last April's form behind with the yard in better form going into this, while General Custard could do much better on this less testing ground. Amarone Gentleman is also worth a market check with his trainer having won a couple of these and making his debut after a wind operation.
  1. Windsor Avenue
  2. General Custard
  3. Big Bad Dream
