Milan gelding changed hands for £250,000 after easy point-to-point success on debut. No problems in opening account under rules at Hereford last month and looks a smart prospect.

Easy point-to-point winner on debut in that sphere, represents powerful yard and sports tongue-tie on rules bow. Trainer doesn't have overly strong bumper record by his lofty standards (4-24) but picks tough starting place, which is noted.
Fleminsfirth gelding with a nice pedigree, he cost €80,000 and won on debut in Chepstow bumper in November. Improved in first-time hood to double-up there last month and should have plenty more to offer.
Hard-ridden to get away from field but came home with 12L to spare at Wincanton on Boxing Day in heavy ground on debut. Better ground likely now in what is a deeper contest.

Backed to win soft-ground bumper at Bangor in early December and obliged with minimum of fuss, looks a smart prospect and should give another good account in this tougher test.

Beneficial gelding cost €50,000 as a three-year-old and made winning start for champion trainer over C&D last month despite displaying greenness. Should have learned plenty from that experience and can improve.

Cost €70,000 and was strongly supported on debut at Bangor in October when only finishing second. Went one better next time at Ascot gaining game success, though that form leaves him with plenty to find taking on Brewin'upastorm here.

Stowaway gelding is a half-brother to three winners and made no mistake on debut at Ayr in April over 2m on good to soft ground for champion trainer. Not seen since but clearly commands a good deal of respect for these connections.
Well-related Stowaway gelding, showed plenty promise on second start in Listed Cheltenham bumper in November (2¾L third of 10) but failed to build on that next time at Ascot. Faces stiffer task again here, seemingly.

Progressing with each of three runs and now has two wins under his belt. Made every yard to win heavy-ground Listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Stable in good form and one of many with claims now.

Cost €150,000 from France, ran well over C&D last month when close-up fourth behind Morning Vicar. May do well to reverse those placings today.

Winning start in 'Junior' bumper at Towcester in November for previous handler, looks a useful prospect but has been tasked with a fair challenge on debut for new handler.

Forecasts

Good Boy Bobby (4/1), Brewin'upastorm (5/1), Lechlade Magician (6/1), Acey Milan (13/2), Morning Vicar (13/2), Danny Kirwan (8/1), Moonlighter (10/1), Pym (12/1), Thistle Do Nicely (14/1), Nestor Park (16/1), Woulduadamandeveit (25/1), Enrichissant (33/1)

Verdict

Very much a case of pick your poison in the finale, with no less than eight unbeaten records (some from point-to-points) going on the line from a dozen runners and another two last-time-out winners joining them in a bumper that has produced some top-class winners, with Barters Hill and Altior both past scorers running earlier on the card today. Morning Vicar defied some greenness to win over C&D last month for Nicky Henderson, who also saddles Pym, winner at Ayr in the spring on his only outing. Good Boy Bobby, Moonlighter and Brewin'upastorm are all full of potential but ACEY MILAN led his rivals a merry dance from the front at Cheltenham on New Year's Day to win a Listed bumper and may improve again on better ground for the in-form Anthony Honeyball yard.
  1. Acey Milan
  2. Brewin'upastorm
  3. Morning Vicar
