Hardy sort who has won seven times but not at this trip since November 2013. Runner-up here over 5f last time out and this extra furlong not certain to play to his strengths.

Landed this race 12 months ago when trained by Jeremy Gask. Beaten under length on last visit here in October and has run well since for the most part, including a win at Kempton in November. Sure to be thereabouts.

First-time visor applied as he drops down in trip. Won over 7f here on penultimate start and not without hope if the headgear serves to concentrate his mind.

Runner-up last two starts in a seller and a claimer, but in fair form. This is tougher though and on balance others have more appeal in this very competitive affair.

Yard fairly quiet at present and this gelding hasn't really been firing on all cyclinders on his last two outings. Needs to improve if he is to get into the thick of the action.

Ten wins to date, nine at minimum trip. Only exception was weak claimer here over C&D last January. Didn't look on best terms with himself here last time and his best days look to be behind him now.

Mare who has been very consistent on last six starts, failing by a whisker to score at Kempton last week. Has won over C&D in the past so one to add to the short list.

4lb lower than when last successful at Kempton 12 months ago. Absent since poor effort in claimer there in September but does go well fresh so any market move in her favour would be worth noting.

Ex-Irish gelding who got off the mark at Dundalk (A/W) in December before joining current yard. Debut here for new connections. Trip and surface no problem but remains to be seen if he has acclimatised yet.

Sneaked home at Windsor in May but hard to fathom over the last few months. Two appaling efforts before finished from way back into fifth over C&D last time. Needs to be in the mood and for things to drop right.

Won two of his last three and raised 4lb for C&D success two weeks ago. Today's jockey seems to have clicked with this eight-year-old and hard to rule out them going close once agin in current form.

Rattled off a hattrick last June but paid the penalty and has struggled to be competitive for the most part since, including last three starts which have been poor. Hard to recommend in current form.

Forecasts

Born To Finish (3/1), Very Honest (9/2), Toriano (5/1), Bridge Builder (15/2), Dream Farr (8/1), Brother Tiger (17/2), Picket Line (14/1), Monumental Man (25/1), Peace Officer (25/1), Juan Horsepower (25/1), Deeds Not Words (33/1), Pour La Victoire (40/1)

Verdict

In a wide open finale BRIDGE BUILDER is taken to get the better of last year's winner Born To Finish. Although he is creeping up the weights, the selection is in great heart and his young jockey appears to have found the key to him. Born To Finish may well have been laid out for a repeat bid in this event and should make a proper race of it. Others to consider include the in-form mare Very Honest, the first-time visored Toriano, and the ex-Irish Peace Officer.

  3. Toriano
