Useful bumper winner who hasn't quite blossomed as a hurdler as yet and although he made progress last time over 2m he could do with a greater test of stamina. Surprising that connections don't give him a go in handicaps and badly off at the weights here with some.
Two starts so far in maiden hurdles (completed once) and as yet he's shown very little and he'll need more time and experience yet.

Showed very little when trained in Ireland in a bumper and over hurdles but showed an awful lot more on his first run for this yard (good record with newcomers). It's hard to say he posed a win threat but the Fakenham third was a good deal better; possibly more to come.

One of the more experienced in this field this being his 5th run over hurdles although his form so far in this sphere has had its ups and downs. Back to form last time out when outstayed by a pair that stayed better than him (travelled well) and this stiff 2m test may prove ideal.

Steadily improving over hurdles and has run two of his best races here despite falling on the first of them. Both of those races were over further and this will be the shortest trip that he's run over when hurdling; often makes running and may be suited by this 2m trip.

11/4
Useful dual Flat winner when trained in France and looks the type that his yard are bringing along gradually over hurdles. His best run over hurdles came on slightly better ground than this and the chances are this might be too much of a test; one to note for handicaps in the future.

Well held in his only bumper he's shown ability over hurdles although he failed to match his hurdling debut when last seen. Lost place very easily when very last seen at Taunton and will need to bounce back to take a hand in this.

From a family that this yard know well and have done with in the past she didn't shown that much on her bumper debut. Now switched to hurdles she looks more one for the longer term.

Negligible form on the Flat for various yards her hurdling form isn't any better and she's yet to complete in two starts over obstacles. Now tried in eyeshields for the first time but they would need to work miracles for her to figure here.

Forecasts

Piton Pete (9/4), Pull Together (9/4), Shalakar (11/4), Court Affairs (7/1), Flynnvincible (8/1), Some Ambition (40/1), Belle's Spirit (66/1), Downloadtheapp (80/1), Respectability (100/1)

Verdict

A relatively competitive opener to the card and it could well provide a good chance for PITON PETE to finally get off the mark with the stiff 2m looking the ideal trip for him. Pull Together has a race in him and he’s another than may be suited by this 2m trip and he would be dangerous if he gets an easy lead. On official rating Shalakar has a little bit to do at these weights and may fare better in handicaps especially on a sounder surface. Court Affairs has shown ability and could be better than his modest rating but based on that he has work to do at these weights with Flynnvincible another to watch (especially in the market) who may be seen to better effect in handicaps.
  1. Piton Pete
  2. Pull Together
  3. Court Affairs
