Has been in tremendous form since March last year winning five of his seven races and has really found his feet on the Fibresand on late having previously been well beaten on the surface. Nudged up 3lb for winning last time (had two of these behind) but hard to rule out a hat-trick bid.

Putting together a good record over 5f at Newcastle but has only had one previous try over this C&D. Never really threatened on that occasion and this mark of 89 has proved beyond him before.

Won her first two starts over C&D but that winning run came to an end last time when she was up in grade and may appreciate this slight ease in class. Has work to do with Foolaad and Classic Pursuit on that run and the high draw might make life difficult once again.

Makes his debut for this yard having formerly been with James Given and has won twice over C&D off lower marks. Working his way back down to a good mark again having been last seen in a claimer but may just need this outing having not been out since October.

Always to be respected on this surface he has won twice over C&D although he's arguably better over 6f although he has now slipped 3lb below his last winning mark. Usually ridden up with the pace he's nicely drawn here although he's likely to face some pace pressure.

The only one in this field that hasn't experienced this surface before and he comes here with his losing run getting longer and longer despite running some sound races. There's no doubt that he's well handicapped if he acts on Fibresand but his last win did come back in 2013; has had wind surgery.

Has done well on his last two starts here finishing third here to Pearl Acclaim on the first occasion and in the same position to Foolaad last time. Better off at the weights with both of those this time it should be close between them although he could do with travelling a little better this time.

Form over C&D reads 11213 with the last win coming off a mark of 73 (now just 2lb higher) and he ran into a couple of well handicapped sorts last time. May need to find some more progress but given his liking for this surface is hard to leave out of the equation.

His record looks good here with five wins from 11 runs although he looks to have gone off the boil of late and his last four runs here since his last run read poorly. Found little when asked for his effort last time in a C&D seller and work to do back in a handicap on current showings.

Forecasts

Foolaad (11/10), Razin' Hell (6/1), Pearl Acclaim (8/1), Memories Galore (8/1), Midnight Malibu (10/1), Classic Pursuit (11/1), Bogart (20/1), Piazon (25/1), Oriental Relation (33/1)

Verdict

Some old foes meet here and the run of the race and a decent start will probably go a long way to deciding who comes out on top with the winners of 16 C&D races contesting this sprint. FOOLAAD comes here in search of a hat-trick having looked to take on a new lease of life over C&D of late and a 3lb rise for his last win doesn’t look to punitive. Razin’ Hell needs no introduction around here but he might just be more at home over 6f and that could lead Classic Pursuit and Pearl Acclaim as the main dangers. Midnight Malibu is a dual C&D winner but her run last time left a little to be desired and she needs to bounce back here.
  1. Foolaad
  2. Classic Pursuit
  3. Pearl Acclaim
