Both wins to date have come at Ayr and ran poorly on previous two visits to Newcastle at this trip (hurdles). Did shape well here when narrowly beaten over two miles in March but was well beaten favourite latest at Ayr.

Scored here over two miles at this meeting two years ago, and has won three times since, including an easy success at Catterick (2m) latest. Still nicely handicapped on old form and should be thereabouts once again.

Scored at Hexham last March over this trip and was still in touch 3 out when falling at Ayr latest (3m). Chance at a trip that suits if that tumble hasn't left his mark.

Wining point-to-pointer but maiden in 10 starts under Rules. Generally disappointing hurdles/chases, but yard in tremendous form at present so cannot be lightly dismissed (6-13 strike rate recently). Any market confidence might prove significant.

Only win came in 2m6f hurdle at this track, but has been well beaten in two starts so far over fences, including at Ayr latest when he didn't jump well. Has plenty to prove with first-time tongue tie added.

Veteran mare who has won just 1-25. Badly out of form and has been dropped a whopping 10lb since last run, but may still not be enough for her to get competitive.

25/1
Inconsistent gelding who won at Hexham last June but has disappointed in last two starts. Unseated 6 out over this C&D last time when wrong at weights but still not quite done with, so may prove one of the likelier outsiders.

10-race maiden who fell very early on at Catterick last time. Drops back in trip here but has to improve if he's to figure.

What A Dreamp,t21
Age: 12|  Weight: 10-2| J: Jamie Hamilton(3)| T: Mrs A C Hamilton| OR:  74| D

Battled on well to score over hurdles at Ayr last time on first start for nine months. All three career wins have come at Ayr and has generally run modestly at this venue, with one exception, in seven visits.

Under The Red Skyb5
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: Alison Clarke(7)| T: Kenny Johnson| OR:  66
8/1
26-race maiden but didn't run badly when third at Down Royal last time out following a series of poor efforts. Needs to prove that run wasn't a flash in the pan and on balance others make more appeal.

Forecasts

Log On (9/2), Brown Trix (5/1), Orioninverness (11/2), Titian Boy (7/1), Rosquero (7/1), Mcginty's Dream (15/2), Under The Red Sky (8/1), What A Dream (10/1), Notonebuttwo (25/1), Silverton (28/1)

Verdict

ORIONINVERNESS wasn't done with when coming to grief 3 out on his latest start and is given a chance to make amends in a race of generally disappointing sorts. If he stays, veteran Rosquero might give the selection most to do and is at least in decent form after his win last time, while Log On represents a yard in cracking form so cannot be easily dismissed despite a modest profile. Notonebuttwo, Titian Boy, and What A Dream are others with each-way prospects.

  3. Rosquero
