Good form in recent handicap hurdles including when second over a similar trip at Southwell last time. 5lb rise up the weights is slightly harsh but ground should suit. Cheek pieces on.
Has run well in much better races than this in his younger days, but seems regressive at this point and vulnerable to younger contenders.
4lb higher than when winning at Chepstow in October. Has won here in the past but would probably prefer a sounder surface.
Couldn't improve for the switch to handicaps last time out when beaten 11L at Market Rasen. On the same mark here but possible that first-time cheek pieces may help.
Hat-trick seeker who carries a 7lb penalty for winning at Sedgefield last time. Questionable as to whether he would have won that race with the extra weight but this step up in trip may help.
Won on his return from a break in September but hasn't been able to build on that since and needs this marked step up in trip to bring about plenty of improvement.
Far from the most consistent (has not traveled and been pulled up twice) but has shown promise on his going days. Could hit the frame on this return to hurdling.
Performance at Chepstow last time was her weakest for a while. The handicapper may now be in charge and she remains on the same mark here.
Ran a very nice race on return from a break at Newton Abbot last time. That was a small field and he's now getting on returning from a shorter absence, but he can't be ruled out.
Has recently returned to some form over hurdles and should relish conditions here, but it's a concern he's only 1/20 under rules.
Not disgraced in fourth at Bangor last time when only beaten two lengths, but isn't the easiest to win with and wouldn't want the ground drying out.
Forecasts
Groundunderrepair (3/1), Camron De Chaillac (7/2), Bradford Bridge (7/1), It's Obvious (8/1), Culture De Sivola (10/1), Kalmbeforethestorm (10/1), Quinto (12/1), Daytime Ahead (12/1), Somerset Jem (14/1), Take A Break (14/1), Billy Dutton (20/1)
Groundunderrepair is of obvious interest given the form he's been in recently, but preference is for CAMRON DE CHAILLAC. Bidding for a hat-trick he carries a 7lb penalty, and though that may have been an issue over a short distance it seems that this step up in trip should help him find further improvement on ground that should suit and at a course he won at as recently as December. Kalmbeforethestorm is another for the shortlist after an encouraging performance last time out.
- Camron De Chaillac
- Groundunderrepair
- Kalmbeforethestorm
