Main plus point is this big drop in grade, having plied his trade in better company for some time. Trip ideal, and should handle the surface fine, not disgraced on latest start and should be capable of getting involved in the finish.
Has raced exclusively at this venue to date, improved for the step up to 7f here last time when only just getting touched off in a driving finish. Conditions clearly fine and should have more to come, so a big player here.
Has shown only moderate form in two starts and hard to fancy on what she's shown so far. Will be of more interest once going handicapping after tonight.
Easy winner at Wolverhampton two starts back but couldn't follow up at Southwell a few days later, beaten at odds-on. Wouldn't be the first horse to bounce back after a bad run there, so needs taking seriously here. .
Good start to his career when third over this trip at Chelmsford last month, and the fact he went off at 7-4 suggests plenty was expected. Will know more here and although he needs improvement, every chance of that happening.
Half-brother to the useful Heavy Metal, who was a winner on dirt, so shouldn't have issues with the surface. Bred to be useful but already gelded, which sounds an alarm, and despite powerful connections, may be best watched here.
Bred to be very useful over middle distances but hasn't shown much in two starts to date. This trip looks on the short side but will be one to watch once going into handicaps and going up in trip.
Cost 150,000 guineas at sales last year, bred to be smart and dam is related to dirt winners, so this surface shouldn't pose a problem. Yard are 11% with their 2-y-o's here over the past five years, so needs a market check at the very least.
Did a little better on her second start and should continue to progress, but may be biting off more than she can chew here. Others make more appeal.
Forecasts
Ripp Orf (2/1), Papa Stour (11/4), Michael Corleone (4/1), Night Castle (4/1), Sea Fox (12/1), Setting Sun (16/1), Tribal Warrior (25/1), Woggle (125/1), Compton Abbey (125/1)
RIP ORFFSea Fox, who should find life easier back in novice company. Papa Stour shoudl be forgiven a below-par effort on the Fibresand last time and may well fare better here.
