Scored at Market Rasen (2m5½f, good to soft) in December from 11lb lower and has bettered that effort in defeat from this mark in two runs since. Potential for further improvement over this longer trip, goes on soft and has claims.
Back for a second spell with this trainer after winning a point-to-point on soft in April. Remains a maiden under rules from seven starts. Not too badly handicapped on his best efforts but unless market speaks volumes he looks best watched.
The last of his wins under rules was in 2013. Stays 3m3f on heavy ground. Drops 4lb here after reappearance from lengthy absence in December saw him beaten 30L at Hereford. Well treated on 2016 form but has to prove he can get back to that.
Stayed on well to win at Fontwell (3m2f, heavy) by 7L last time out and break his duck in the process. 5lb claimed today partially negates 7lb penalty and now he know how to win he may be capable of successful follow up.
18-race maiden who has regularly made the frame, as has been the case on his last two starts at Wetherby and Market Rasen. From the same mark today he should be in the hunt for the money, but looks likely to find something to beat him.
Placed in 7-11 chases but yet to win one., his sole success being in a 3m1f handicap hurdle from a mark of just 69. 1lb 'wrong' here and looks to have place claims at best on recent evidence.
Forecasts
Mount Oliver (6/4), Iskabeg Lane (15/8), Tommy The Rascal (13/2), In The Hold (9/1), Inchcolm (12/1), Boyfromnowhere (20/1)
Very moderate fayre where ISKABEG LANE is suggested despite carrying plenty of weight. Sue Smith's charge has been running well over shorter and is probably open to a bit of improvement now upped to this distance. In The Hold needs a market check but we have seen enough of him previously to take him on again and Mount Oliver is likely to prove a bigger danger based on his recent win. Of the others, Boyfromnowhere has at least proved capable of winning a chase and his return from a long absence was not devoid of encouragement, so he may prove next best.
- Iskabeg Lane
- Mount Oliver
- Boyfromnowhere
