Still a maiden after nine starts and looks held by the handicapper at present. His front-running style is well suited to around here and not without each-way claims back down in trip.

Winner at Windsor on debut but unplaced on all six starts since. Not disgraced at Wolverhampton last time but probably needs more relief from the handicapper before she becomes of interest.

Made little impression in four runs for previous yard but shown more ability since moved to this trainer. Not beaten far here last time and step back in trip no issue. Can go well for the yard that won this last year and gets first-time cheekpieces.

4/1
Irish raider who made little impression on four turf starts but has shown more in two starts on the AW at Dundalk. First-time tongue-tie could see her improve but she can be slowly away and that's a concern, particularly around here.

Unplaced on all four Dundalk starts but improved to finish closer on handicap debut last time. Could take advantage of this low mark, particularly in less competitive races on this side of the Irish Sea and top jockey takes over from 10lb claimer.

5/4
Unplaced on first six starts but got her head in front last time at Wolverhampton. Carries a 6lb penalty for that success but yard are in form and they do well with their runners here. Respected in follow up bid.

Forecasts

Harvest Day (5/4), Highly Approved (4/1), High Susie (11/2), Medici Oro (6/1), Boomerang Betty (10/1), Watching Spirits (10/1)

Verdict

Mick Appleby won this contest last year and Watching Spirits has improved since joining the trainer's stable. First-time cheekpieces could also eke out improvement but preference is for HIGH SUSIE who improved markedly on handicap debut last time. She ought to find this easier than the races she's been running in at Dundalk and Oisin Murphy would appear to be a significant jockey booking. Harvest Day will find this race tougher than her most recent assignment but she may be able to build on that success and can't be ruled out.
  1. High Susie
  2. Watching Spirits
  3. Harvest Day
