Winning pointer who made an encouraging debut under rules when finishing an 11L runner-up behind Station Master in an Aintree bumper in May. Likely to appreciate the test of stamina on his hurdles bow and commands respect.
Dropped away tamely when beating only one home in a soft ground bumper at Uttoxeter last month. That said, he was the subject of some market support that day so likely there is better to come as he switches to hurdles.

Clear signs of ability when a close up fifth in a Worcester bumper on good ground first time out before a slightly lesser effort in testing conditions at Chepstow recently. Dangerous to dismiss on his hurdles debut.

€40,000 buy as a three-year-old and has a decent jumps pedigree. Would be of some interest if the market vibes are positive. though the presence of blinkers for his debut tempers enthusiasm slightly.

Acquired for £140,000 after finishing a runner up in an Irish point-to-point and was a promising third over an inadequate 2m on his hurdles bow. Took a step backwards on faster ground at Uttoxeter next time but remains very much of interest.

Shown some promise in bumpers and, though none too convincing on his hurdles debut, he improved significantly to finish a runner-up behind Carole's Vigilante over 2m3f (soft) here next time. Respected on that, as extra distance should suit.

Third in a 3m Irish point-to-point in June but never able to get competitive over 2m (good to soft) on his hurdles debut at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Will come on for that and this longer trip is more like it.
Unfancied and failed to complete in all three point-to-point starts (all on good ground). Very hard to make a credible case for on his belated debut under rules.

Changed hands for £65,000 following a winning point-to-point debut but only fifth when fancied for a 2m Warwick bumper (soft) last March. Not seen out since but has to be of interest on his hurdles debut under the champion.

Produced a couple of promising efforts last winter in testing conditions, most notably when a narrow runner-up behind Major Hindrance over C&D. For all that, he has questions to answer after a lifeless effort at Cheltenham on his reappearance.

Purchased for £170,000 after an impressive win on his only point-to-point start (3m, good) and has since gone close in two soft ground bumpers over an inadequate 2m. Plenty of potential going over hurdles for the first time, looks the one to beat.

Only modest form in bumpers and once refused to race in that sphere. Again showed signs of temperament on her hurdles debut at Lingfield when finishing a 17L fifth and doesn't look the stable's best hope here.

Forecasts

Tossapenny (1/1), Fleminport (9/2), Rambling Rector (6/1), Tarrona (15/2), Aptly Put (12/1), Jimmy Bell (20/1), Fawsley Spirit (25/1), Cloudy Glen (50/1), Little Allstar (66/1), Madame Fiona (66/1), Cul De Poule (100/1), Midnight Frensi (200/1)

Verdict

Expensive winning pointer TOSSAPENNY has upheld his reputation by twice finishing a runner-up in bumper company and should really come into his own over this much longer trip on his hurdles debut. All things being equal, he looks the one to beat, though his yard has been a little quiet recently. Aptly Put, Fleminport and Rambling Rector each boast a similar profile and would have to be considered if the market vibes are positive whilst Jimmy Bell is respected on the form of his recent second here over a slightly shorter trip.
  1. Tossapenny
  2. Fleminport
  3. Rambling Rector
