Winner of a novice chase in testing conditions at Limerick last time out. Up in trip here and could build on that effort on this handicap debut.

Only win came in November 2016, but has shown some good since when second over a similar trip at Leopardstown two starts ago. Returns to this distance now and holds claims.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: M F Morris| OR:  118| D

May find this easier compared to other chases he's been coming up short in so far. Ran well for a long way at Punchestown last time and finished ahead of Bilko.

Thirsty Work28
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: B J Geraghty| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  116
9/4
Much better form over fences on his last two starts (despite falling in his penultimate race) and should win his first chase sooner rather than later, with this top jockey taking the ride.

Next Bend42
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-9| J: J M Moore| T: T Gibney| OR:  112
14/1
Two time winner over hurdles but beaten a long way in both chases he's contested so far and needs to improve now handicapping.
6

The Informert33
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Flanagan| T: S Fahey| OR:  103| D
7/2
Easy winner of a weaker handicap chase at Down Royal last time. Up 10lb now in a tougher race and likely to be outclassed.
7

Asitsohappens30
Age: 10|  Weight: 9-13| J: J J Slevin| T: M McCabe| OR:  102
14/1
1/30 under rules so far (the win coming in a maiden hurdle), and hasn't finished within 10L of a winner in almost a year. Best watched.

Forecasts

Thirsty Work (9/4), Wishmoor (7/2), The Informer (7/2), Surf Instructor (11/2), Bilko (7/1), Asitsohappens (14/1), Next Bend (14/1)

Verdict

Less exposed than many of these, SURF INSTRUCTOR could provide the answer here. A clear winner of a novice event at Limerick last time, if that win was as impressive as it looked then an opening mark of 127 may not prove insurmountable, especially if he can improve for the step up in trip. Thirsty Work seems to be improving over fences and may be the main danger, ahead of recent Punchestown fourth Wishmoor.
  1. Surf Instructor
  2. Thirsty Work
  3. Wishmoor
