Ran out a 15L winner of a 2m4f Chaddesley Corbett maiden on his sole start for Philip Rowley in December 2016, before being sold for £75,000 the following month. Plenty of time off since, but his new trainer has done well in bumpers this season.
Milan gelding who made the frame on debut at Bartlemy in May (3m good), finishing 7L third to Hitman Fred (runs in the previous race). Moved on to high profile owners since, so worthy of inspection on rules bow.

Stablemate of Black Pirate, and as with that one, the same comments regarding the trainer's strike rate in these races applies. His dam was a winner over fences, so might need more time. Market helpful. Hooded and wears the well known Westoll silks.
Picked up for £40,000 in November following his 2L victory at Tinahely in late October (3m yielding to soft). Brother to 2m4f hurdle winner Cochinillo and a half-brother to various winners, so potentially exciting times lie ahead for his new owners.

Twice raced Cloudings grey who cost €14,000 as a three-year-old, and whose dam (Our Witness) is an unraced half-sister to the winning staying chaser The Bushkeeper. Not shown enough promise yet, and a switch to hurdling looks imminent.
Ask mare out of an unraced dam (Minora). 12th foal who is closely related to the 2m3f hurdle winner Buffalo Ballet. Denied the opportunity to race on three previous occasions due to abandoned fixtures and travel problems.
Dromahane mares maiden winner for Robert Tyner in November (3m soft), she was moved on subsequently for £17,000. Her dam Desirable Rhythm was a bumper winner herself, so with her stable proven in these type of events is a horse to note.
Grey gelding by Great Pretender out of the French maiden Queenly Mail. Third foal who cost €38,000 and is a half-brother to bumper winner Chez Castel Mail. Not disgraced when beaten almost 11L on debut at Newcastle in December (1m6f soft).
Fourth foal by Multiplex out of Chebsey Belle. Brother to the 1m4f to 1m7f Flat and 2m3f to 2m5f hurdle/chase winner Chebsey Beau. Worthy of inspection off a light weight (claimer ridden).

Forecasts

Black Pirate (15/8), Shantaluze (5/2), Champagnendiamonds (13/2), Hills Of Connemara (10/1), Drenek (10/1), Inthedeal (10/1), Elvis Mail (12/1), Accost (16/1), The Hard Shoulder (66/1)

Verdict

Both James Ewart and Nick Alexander are doubly represented, and as the previous race (first division) also demonstrates, opportunities for these young and inexperienced horses have been very thin on the ground in the North with a plethora of abandoned fixtures since early December. The market will be the best guide for this contest, with winning pointers Black Pirate, SHANTALUZE and Hills of Connemara all noteworthy on their respective rules debuts; as is Champagnendiamonds (furthermore so assuming Hitman Fred bolsters his form in the previous race). Drenek should also be noted in the colours of Carlisle Racecourse Chairman James Westoll. However, small stakes are suggested on the Donald McCain trained Tinahely winner, with Brian Hughes booked for the mount.
  1. Shantaluze
  2. Black Pirate
  3. Hills Of Connemara
