Watch Racing UK In Stunning HD EBF 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle

Off time: 16:00 | Winning time: 4m 33.89s

Destrier⁶⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 0-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| D

6/4

Made a winning hurdling debut at Leicester in November. Trainer and jockey have a 30% strike-rate here and yard do well with these types; more likely to go on this ground than some when considering his pedigree and hard to beat.

Dig A Bit Deeper¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 0-0| J: Henry Brooke| T: T D Easterby

100/1

Well beaten in moderate bumpers and beaten out of sight on both hurdles runs. Tough assignment here.

Plenty to like about both efforts in bumpers including last time in heavy ground. Interesting pedigree and yard do well around here so likely to improve with the trainer in excellent form in recent weeks. Interesting runner.

Well beaten at big prices on all three career starts and likely to do better when handicapping.

Half-brother to five winners on the Flat at trips from 6f-1m2f, was stable second string on debut at Bangor last month in bumper, coming home just under 20L last of ten in soft ground. Has to improve.

Good second in Punchestown bumper on debut but yet to back that up and made a bad mistake last time out when unseating the rider. Probably too soon to write her off and more experienced than many in here.

Forecasts

Klare Castle (1/1), Destrier (6/4), Miss Tynte (9/1), Snougar (25/1), Secret Melody (25/1), Dig A Bit Deeper (100/1)

DESTRIER will be hard to beat for the Skelton team who have a fine record here. His absence since last run has been due to abandoned meetings rather than injury/well-being and he looks the one to beat after an impressive win on hurdles debut. Klare Castle has shown a fair level of form in bumpers and is proven to some extent in this ground. Miss Tynte is an interesting runner on her Irish form but won't be able to get away with the mistakes she made last time if she's to compete with the aforementioned runners.
