Won novices' hurdles at Plumpton (2m, soft) and Towcester (2m3f, good to firm) in early 2017 for Warren Greatrex. Yet to fire over hurdles/fences for this yard. Attempted to make running over 3m here on New Year's Day, finished tailed off.
Sole success was on heavy ground at Ayr (2m4??f) in March, which came from 12lb lower than today. Left Stuart Coltherd for this yard prior to penultimate start when beaten 8L at Towcester. Since pulled up at Ffos Las (2m4f, heavy).
Useful Flat performer, twice went close from three attempts in maiden hurdles in April/May 2016 for Jim Best. Long layoff to overcome on handicap debut for new trainer, testing ground also some cause for concern.
Lightly-raced eight-year-old remains a maiden after eight starts. Pulled up last month at Southwell (2m4??f, good) on return from 670 day absence. Can only be watched right now.
Dual winner over hurdles in 2016 for Nigel Twiston-Davies but has rather lost his way since, promising race last month at Uttoxeter (2m4f, soft) on debut for this trainer, shaping as if it was needed. Could have a say over this shorter trip.
Surprise 20/1 winner over C&D (good) in November, though poor in three starts since, back down in trip and only 3lb higher previous winning mark, heavy ground may not be in her favour.
Unable to land any sort of blow in quartet of maiden/novice outings, pulled up over C&D last month on handicap bow in soft ground. Dropped 8lb in the ratings, but must improve dramatically.
Recorded third career win over C&D last month (soft), all out to do so having travelled well to gain the lead. Up 3lb but still very well treated on old form and should be in the firing line again.
Last of his five wins came on soft at Chepstow (2m) in March from today's mark. Is of interest on that basis. Was entitled to need his reappearance at Wincanton in November and should be capable of a competitive effort this time.
11-year-old often travels strongly in his races but doesn't tend to find a whole lot when asked, as record of 1-22 over fences suggests. Poor at Taunton 23 days ago but previous couple of efforts would give him some claims. Others more likely.
Forecasts
Gin And Tonic (5/2), Hurricane Rita (5/1), Yourholidayisover (6/1), Northandsouth (6/1), Jamhoori (13/2), Dizzey Heights (8/1), Karl Marx (12/1), Ataman (12/1), Busy Baro (25/1), Postbridge (25/1)
HURRICANE RITA shaped nicely on her first start for Olly Murphy at Towcester and is forgiven a poor run since at Ffos Las. She has won on testing ground before and gets the services of the champion jockey to aid her cause now, ensuring she's worth another chance for an in-form yard. Gin And Tonic won for the third time over C&D last month, making slightly harder work of it than looks likely, he's up 3lb on that success but is still on a workable mark based on his best form. Northandsouth and Karl Marx are others worth noting in the betting.
- Hurricane Rita
- Gin And Tonic
- Yourholidayisover
