As a 130-rated hurdler he ought to be running to a Flat mark in the 80s That would make him highly competitive on this first run since a wind operation. Needs a sound surface and that may explain the decision to bring him here at this time of year.
Like American Gigolo a lack of decent ground at Natonal Hunt venues sees him routed here in a bid to keep him ticking over. Not as good a hurdler as Harry Fry's charge and he has dropped away tamely in the past under pressure.
Looks like another jumper who has come here in search of action on a better surface. Won a Kempton bumper in February and yet to make his mark over hurdles. His bumper form suggests he may have the tools to go well here.
Intikhab gelding and a half-brother to a moderate Flat maiden. Difficult to see him making a winning start here despite the booking f a leading rider.
Showed something last time in a weaker race than this and the extra 2f will help. Lightly raced and open to improvement so it would be unwise to write him off.
Has managed to finish third in all four starts and has not really progressed over the last three. Possible he may just have to run to that level to score here given the questions posed by some of his higher-rated rivals.
Has proved a costly failure in three of her last four starts. Her best effort came here amidst that run when fourth in Listed company. Hopefully the visor will persuade her to produce that sort of performance.
€75,000 daughter of Derby winner Pour Moi and closely related to two middle-distance winners. Trip would have been on the short side for debut, however she still did not show enough to merit consideration.
Forecasts
Gakku (1/1), American Gigolo (7/2), Fearsome (4/1), Barrsbrook (12/1), Haafapiece (16/1), Reedway (20/1), Give Him Time (25/1), Kerre (50/1)
Of the three jumpers seeking better ground, Haafapiece and American Gigolo warrant consideration having landed bumpers. The former showed a decent turn of foot to land his, but Harry Fry's charge has developed into a better hurdler. We know what to expect from Fearsome and that will not be enough if GAKKU runs as well as she did on her last visit here when fourth in a Listed event. Roger Varian's filly has disappointed since but was put away afterwards and she can atone here. Barrsbrook was noted staying on in a weak race last time but promises to take another step forward up to this distance.,
- Gakku
- American Gigolo
- Fearsome
