Made it two wins from five starts over fences when scoring narrowly under this jockey at Sandown recently. Up 6lb, but should remain competitive.
Won at Lingfield off 2lb lower in November, but has been well held, despite being placed, on his last two starts. A couple of his rivals look slightly more progressive.
Became frustrating over hurdles, but the switch to fences certainly seemed to suit when he won on his chasing debut at Wincanton. A 6lb rise is fair and, given his relative lack of experience over fences, he has room for improvement.
More experienced over fences than the majority of his rivals and was not troubled to land a Chepstow handicap off 7lb lower two starts ago. Vulnerable to an improver which could well be the case here.
Faded over C&D last time, but had previously run sound races at Lingfield and Sandown. Has won off this mark so cannot be ruled out.
Only one win in 20 attempts over fences and finished third of four under this rider on his last outing at Wincanton. Stable's chasers tend to go well at this venue and his handicap mark is falling.
Stable companion of Uhlan Bute whose sole victory in 16 attempts over fences came at Exeter in March, 2015. Has not been sighted for a long time and is best watched unless the market speaks in his favour.
Forecasts
Crievehill (5/2), Drumcliff (11/4), Chef D'Equipe (7/2), Red Devil Star (8/1), Flaming Charmer (8/1), Uhlan Bute (14/1), Russborough (18/1)
Three young chasers in Chef D'Equipe, Crievehill and DRUMCLIFF are pitched against more streetwise campaigners and they may well hold sway. Preference is for the latter, who delivered less than he promised over hurdles, but looked suited to the switch to fences when successful at Wincanton and can show further improvement. Flaming Charmer looks best of those with plenty of chasing experience.
- Drumcliff
- Chef D'Equipe
- Crievehill
