Fair hurdler who won a 2m5f handicap at Cheltenham. Bumped into top class Yanworth first time over fences and tailed-off on both starts since. Should be a different story this time over a more suitable trip and with the ground more to his liking.

Quickly switched to fences after running just once in handicaps over hurdles where his mark looked a harsh. Tailed off on chase debut and this looks a tougher race.

Runner-up in sole start in a point-to-point and makes chase debut having won four of his last five over hurdles. Signs last time the handicapper was catching up with him and he has looked better over further.

Handles soft and his Lingfield victory came over further. Outpaced over 2m3f last time and faces a similar scenario here in a race that could turn tactical.

Triopas (1/1), Cap Horner (5/2), Behind Time (7/2), Speedalong (9/1)

Verdict

Just a small field but one where there are serious doubts about all the contenders. Speedalong is dismissed after a disappointing chase debut and with his mark looking up with events. Triopas is in fine form, but he looks fully weighted for a chase debut over a trip that is shy of his best and in a race that could turn tactical. BEHIND TIME can be excused his three runs over fences given they have come over distances shorter than ideal and on ground that may have been too lively. Cap Horner could help set the pace as he has done so in the past and stays much further than this. There is a doubt he wants the ground as testing as this, but he still warrants respect in a race where nothing stands out
