Surrey Blaze¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: Liam Keniry| T: J Tuite| OR: 57

10/11

Showed little in three runs as a juvenile, but first run in handicap company since being gelded saw him win well at Wolverhampton earlier this month. Has gone up 6lb for that success, but is open to further improvement.

Form: 800-1

(3)

Forricherforpoorer¹²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: M Harley| T: W J Knight| OR: 56

4/1

Failed to beat a rival on first two starts, but was better at Lingfield last time when fifth of 11 in a novice auction contest. Makes his handicap debut and is one to note in the betting.

Form: 00-5

(2)

Garsington²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: R Havlin| T: E A L Dunlop| OR: 52

5/1

Well held in three AW juvenile contests at the back of end of last year, but tries his luck in a handicap for the first time and steps up in trip. Stable going well, so he clearly warrants respect.

Form: 070-

(5)

Headwear¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 8-13| J: Jason Hart| T: D H Brown| OR: 49

4/1

Little encouragement in three juvenile appearances, but shaped much better on her handicap debut behind Surrey Blaze at Wolverhampton when she finished fifth of 11 after pulling for her head. Needs to settle better over this longer trip.

Form: 900-5

(6)

Pretty Pearl³⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 8-10| J: Darragh Keenan⁽⁷⁾| T: R Eddery| OR: 46

25/1

Down the field in all three starts as a juvenile, two of them at this track. Market likely be the best guide to her chance on her handicap debut.

Form: 798-

(1)

Amenhotepthethird²⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-9| J: Noel Garbutt⁽³⁾| T: Mark Gillard| OR: 45

50/1

Sent off at 100-1 or bigger in all five races as a juvenile and was well behind in all of them. Needs to show much more switched to handicap company for the first time.

Form: 00080-

Forecasts

Surrey Blaze (10/11), Headwear (4/1), Forricherforpoorer (4/1), Garsington (5/1), Pretty Pearl (25/1), Amenhotepthethird (50/1)

Plenty of guesswork involved here with four of the runners making their debuts in a handicap. Garsington may well be the best of them for his in-form stable, but SURREY BLAZE sets a reasonable standard after winning at Wolverhampton and may be able to defy a 6lb rise. Headwear shaped well behind him that day and may get closer this time.
