Proved well suited by the step up to 1m on his second career start at Kempton last month, when a pushed out ¾L winner from Albishr. The cheek-pieces are now applied in order to maintain that level of progression, and he should go close.

Stepped forward from a promising debut (green), when a decisive ¾L scorer at Lingfield last month (1m). Looks as if he should have more to offer at this much stiffer track, and won't be found wanting for stamina.
€62,000 foal who has filled the runner up spot on both starts so far (1m+ and 1m2f), but that's positive in the sense that he escapes a penalty. A drop back in trip looks merited, but this race is competitive.

Verdict

The smallest field of the afternoon, but a decent little race to conclude the Newcastle action, with Plus 10 Bonus money on offer. Both Native Appeal and THREE WEEKS have penalties to carry for their respective Kempton and Lingfield victories, but both are progressing well enough, so are taken to battle out the prize. Charlie Appleby (course AW record of 5 from 12; 42%) applies cheek-pieces to Native Appeal as he seeks a further edge for his colt, but William Haggas (12 from 33; 36%) has also profited from his forays to Newcastle since the introduction of Tapeta in May 2016, and his colt (the selection) won't be found wanting for stamina, so his rider Danny Tudhope will no doubt be keenest to make sure that this race doesn't develop into a tactical affair.
