Still early days and going the right way despite being a beaten favourite at Newcastle (2m6f, soft) last time. Drops back to similar trip to which he won over at Aintree on hurdles debut and should give a very good account despite his penalty.

Irish point-to-point winner who has been a bit disappointing under rules so far at 2m4f-3m, being well beaten in both completed starts. Should be getting a handicap mark after this and will be of greater interest then.

Disappointed when 5-1 in a Newcastle bumper on debut last February, coming home last of eight. Expectations lowered when 25-1 for reappearance (beaten 17½L) at Bangor last month. Certainly well related, so hopefully obstacles can bring out better.
Was off for a year before racing too keenly and being pulled up at Huntingdon (2m3½f, good to soft) in November. Worth another try, but clearly a bit to prove and unless market particularly positive he looks one to watch for now.
Showed some promise in three of his four bumpers, the latest being here last month. Handles plenty of cut and dam had bags of stamina, so likely that he can improve now going further. Precautionary market check on hurdles debut.

Dual bumper winner (inc. of soft ground) who hinted at future success on his Wetherby hurdles debut (2m3½f, good to soft). Beaten favourite here over C&D (soft) last time when he was keen. Hood may help with that and he is short-listed.
Has improved with each visit to the racecourse. Even so, was sent off at 66-1 for hurdles debut at Wetherby when last seen a year ago and decent effort to be 22L fourth considering that. Has fitness to prove and market should guide us on that.

Has started at big prices on both occasions. Threatened briefly to get involved at Sedgefield last time, but that effort short-lived and step up in trip should help. Market check suggested, though taking shape as a future handicap prospect on paper.

Made the frame in a couple of bumpers and sent off at just 3-1 for hurdles debut at Musselburgh (2m3½f, good) last time. Tried to make all and still 3L clear when falling two out. Should go well on this compensation mission and is short-listed.

Well beaten in a bumper and tailed off/pulled up on novices' hurdle debut at Newcastle last month. Needs to get some form on the board and looks very much one to watch today.

Forecasts

Hear No Evil (4/6), Sonic (10/3), Planet Nine (4/1), Sam's Gunner (20/1), Ballasalla (20/1), Indian Harbour (33/1), Secret Melody (50/1), Dig A Bit Deeper (100/1), Allmyown (150/1), Younoso (200/1)

Verdict

HEAR NO EVIL is still on an upward curve, despite being a beaten favourite on testing ground at Newcastle last time and the drop back in trip here could help him register a second hurdles success, despite having to concede 6lb to the field. Sonic may well have won at Musselburgh and is on the short-list here, though he does need to better than pre-fall effort. Planet Nine is another to enter calculations, while improvement from Donald McCain's other well-related runner Ballasalla can't be ruled out.
  1. Hear No Evil
  2. Planet Nine
  3. Sonic
