Ran out a ready 11L winner over C&D on his sole previous visit to this track (November 2016), and has returned to form of late with a couple of rock solid efforts at Ludlow. 7lb higher for his December neck success.

Behind when hampered by a faller and unseated rider in the Tommy Whittle Chase at Haydock last month (2m7f heavy). That race was his first start since February 2016, but he was a runner up in the 4m chase at Cheltenham in March 2015.

Appears to stay, but interestingly is yet to win beyond 2m4f. Scored by 1L from Song Saa over that trip at Worcester on his penultimate start in November, but pulled up (never fluent) in deep ground at Haydock latest.

In excellent form during the spring of 2017 (three time winner at up to 2m5f+). Needed his first run back at Aintree in November (hurdle), but much better latest at Exeter (2m3f+) when a staying on 5L second to De Dollar Man.

Won fresh from a break at Newbury (2m4f good) in November 2016, beating Ericht by 8L, and appeared to have a fair future as a staying chaser. Things haven't gone to plan since, but back from just a 3lb higher mark after 11 months off.

Struggles to win, but did so at Wincanton in October (2m4f good). Remains 7lb higher, but it's quite possible that he needs a decent racing surface to be seen at his very best, and he'll get that at this track.

Stamina is a strength, and he has managed to notch a couple of victories over fences in the past 14 months, the latest of which came at Wincanton in March (3m1f good to soft). Probably needed his December seasonal reappearance.

Is fairly unexposed over fences after just three starts to date. He was an eased 11L winner on his chasing debut (novices handicap) at Huntingdon in October, and ran well at Ludlow latest when fourth to the solid stayer Audacious Plan (3m1f+).

Mare who won over hurdles here (3m good) during a winning spell in early 2017, and possibly has more to offer over fences. She ran well enough at Exeter in mid October, and was brought down mid-race at Cheltenham latest.

Recorded a couple of successes in beginners/novice chases in May and June 2016 (awarded the race at Ludlow; 3m). Off for a long time after being pulled up at Stratford thereafter, so hard to have confidence on just his second run back.

Forecasts

Wicked Willy (7/2), Relentless Dreamer (4/1), Timeforwest (6/1), Rolling Dylan (13/2), Orbasa (13/2), Sandy Beach (8/1), Earthmoves (12/1), Broadway Buffalo (16/1), Moss On The Mill (16/1), According To Harry (16/1), Royalraise (25/1)

Verdict

A competitive handicap chase in which a couple of the runners aren't fully exposed over fences. Timeforwest has won at this track over hurdles, and it's still early days for her over fences, likewise Wicked Willy was far from disgraced when finishing just over 11L fourth to the progressive handicapper Audacious Plan at Ludlow on just his third start over the larger obstacles. Both the returning Sandy Beach and Earthmoves should have conditions very much to their liking, but we'll stick with the form horse and top-weight RELENTLESS DREAMER who holds a couple of these rivals on his Ludlow second to Audacious Plan, and was an 11L winner on his sole previous visit to this track in November 2016 (admittedly from an 11lb lower mark).
  1. Relentless Dreamer
  2. Wicked Willy
