Now 12-years-old but knows how to pop up and win a race (6-31 over fences), notching in good style at Fakenham (2m5f, soft) early last month. Jumped poorly back there since and remains a tough contender to predict.

An 11-year-old but he's only run 10 times in his career. Good as ever at Lingfield last time (2m4f, soft) in December when under 2L second of seven in Class 3 handicap chase. Cheekpieces added now and should mount a bold bid.

Both career wins arrived over 2m5f here with plenty give underfoot. Nothing since October 2016 win to inspire confidence and five runs this year have been well below what is required despite slipping mark. Yard are 0-36 recently.

The hurdles return from a break appeared to blow away the cobwebs and he was strong in the betting when winning at Warwick (2m4f) back over fences. That didn't look the strongest of form but it has been franked, off a 4lb higher mark he's respected.

Mare won on her chasing debut at Huntingdon on Boxing Day 2016 over 2m4f (good to soft) but lost her way a bit afterwards. May have needed the run at Newbury last month off a break and still has time on her side in just sixth outing over fences.

Once looked promising for Paul Nicholls but just 1-11 over fences for this stable and more poor efforts in there than good ones. Down in trip and on a workable mark if showing best form.

Forecasts

Cloudy Beach (7/4), Fergal Mael Duin (11/4), Native Robin (4/1), Bagging Turf (11/2), Jarlath (13/2), Howlongisafoot (15/2), Cody Wyoming (9/1)

Verdict

CLOUDY BEACH is very lightly-raced for his age and showed himself to be in good tune last time at Lingfield in a better race than this. With cheekpieces now fitted, he can score here for the Venetia Williams team. The mare Bagging Turf hasn't built on a winning start over fences at Huntingdon a year ago but could still do having had a pipe-opener at Newbury last month while Jarlath is respected after his Warwick success last time out was boosted by the fourth and fifth home winning since. Native Robin on New Year's Eve, also at Warwick, and carries a penalty now for a yard in good form.
  1. Cloudy Beach
  2. Jarlath
  3. Native Robin
