Has run some fair races on the Flat in the past yet remains a maiden and his last two starts which have come over hurdles have left something to be desired. Now tried in cheekpieces for the first time on a new surface and may be best watched on this occasion.
Placed here on all three starts he has at least shown that he can act on the surface despite the fact he has yet to win a race. Ran well enough in a better grade last time out over 4f further and now drops to a mile.
Back from a break and making his AW debut at Lingfield last time over a mile he shaped nicely and handicaps will see him in a better light. Interesting that connections are happy to run him against some elders and with his pedigree he really ought to act on this surface.
Looks worth a try over a mile now having only looked fairly modest for one from this yard on her handicap debut at Kempton (7f). Cheekpieces now tried for the first time on a new surface and respected given connections.
Made an impression in a race that wasn't run to suit on her nursery debut last year over 7f (had been tried over further). Now back to a mile off the same mark as that run although does encounter a new surface which complicates the issue somewhat.
Another making his Fibresand debut and one that has flattered to deceive on more than one occasion. Blinkers are retained from last time but his overall record leaves doubts about his ability to see a race out and others make more appeal.
Has shown some decent enough form around here (424) although he wasn't in the same form as when runner-up over C&D on his penultimate start last time out. Steps up in grade here and looks as though he'll need to progress further against some useful types.
Forecasts
Aiya (5/2), Far Dawn (5/2), Epitaph (5/1), Medici Oro (13/2), Going Native (9/1), Beautiful Artist (11/1), Akkadian Empire (25/1)
An intriguing handicap which sees five three-year-olds pitched in against a couple of their elders. The advantage looks to lie with the younger brigade and AIYA is particularly interesting given how well he ran last time out and the fact that his sire (Declaration of War) has already been responsible for an impressive dual Fibresand winner this winter. Beautiful Artist looks as though he’ll be able to make some more progress as does Going Native who got caught too far back last time out and a decent pace and return to a mile will suit her as she makes her yard/Fibresand debut. Epitaph has proved himself on here and although the drop in grade will suit the mile may prove on the sharp side for him while it will pay to be wary of the finishing effort of Far Dawn.
- Aiya
- Going Native
- Beautiful Artist
