Fairly lightly-raced for his age and improved on his chase debut at Catterick last time out. Must defy top-weight but has more potential to improve than most of these.

Made a winning return to chasing at Southwell last time out (2m4½f, soft), and has gone up 5lb as a result. Both wins to date have come at that venue but has potential to progress over fences.

In good form over fences having won two of his last five and having finished second in another. Will handle conditions and has won off a higher mark than this in the past.

Last won in July 2016 but has gone close on several occasions since, including here. Ground versatile and ran well enough over hurdles at Huntingdon last time out.

Yet to win since moving to Britain but has shown he has ability and previous won over fences when trained in France. Overall strike-rate unimpressive but still of some interest in a first time tongue strap.

Forecasts

Nefyn Bay (11/4), Witness (3/1), Banny's Lad (3/1), Ramonex (7/2), Weyburn (8/1)

Verdict

None of these can be discounted totally, with Ramonex having plenty of potential to improve after only two starts over fences. He could be the one to put it up to NEFYN BAY. Though he hasn't won in a while he has been running well in defeat, particularly over fences, and now returning to the larger obstacles he can also return to winning ways. Banny's Lad will handle in conditions and could be third best in an open contest.
