Horse silk
Kalahari Queen27
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden| D
9/4
Showed plenty of improvement to get off the mark at Lingfield last time. Carries a penalty for that victory and this may well be tougher but has conditions to suit.
2
Horse silk
20/1
Placed in her only point-to-point in May and has since joined this yard for £6,000. Fair pedigree but might be better over further in time.
3
Horse silk
Green Tikkana58
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Ross Turner(7)| T: J Ewart
150/1
0/4 in bumpers before finishing down the field on debut over hurdles last time out. Difficult to see him improving on that effort.
4
Horse silk
Hijran146
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: T Dowling(5)| T: Henry Oliver
66/1
Winner of two weak handicaps on the Flat and now starts off over hurdles. Not the most obvious yard to send out a winner on their first attempt at obstacles.
5
Horse silk
Paper Roses29
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Callum Whillans(3)| T: D W Whillans| OR:  116
6/4
Yet to win either in bumpers or novice hurdles, but has run her race more often than not and was beaten only a head over further at Carlisle last time. Drop in trip a small concern but she has ability.
6
Horse silk
Raised On Grazeon14
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Danny Cook| T: J & S Quinn| OR:  104| BF
9/4
Placed in all three novice hurdles so far, including over this trip. Showed he handles the ground in a bumper (when second only to subsequent Grade 1 winner Sam Spinner), and only needs to progress slightly to win here.
7
Horse silk
66/1
10 race maiden on the Flat who didn't particularly impress in finishing seventh on hurdle debut over C&D last time. Others hold more convincing claims.

Forecasts

Paper Roses (6/4), Raised On Grazeon (9/4), Kalahari Queen (9/4), Banrion Scairp (20/1), Hijran (66/1), England Expects (66/1), Green Tikkana (150/1)

Verdict

Previous winner Kalahari Queen holds obvious claims but may struggle to defy a penalty and preference is for RAISED ON GRAZEON. Running well in all three of her novice hurdles so far she showed she handles soft ground when finishing second to subsequent Grade 1 winner Sam Spinner in a bumper, and probably only needs to improve a small bit on what she's shown to get off the mark here. Paper Roses is another who has placed in a few races now and is also considered.
  1. Raised On Grazeon
  2. Kalahari Queen
  3. Paper Roses
