His only run over C&D saw him run better than he had for a while back from a break in March and confirmed that return to form when next seen in April on turf. Looked to be one to bear in mind although he does have to perform off a rather long absence and may be vulnerable to a race fit one.

Now with a yard that do well with this type and turned in his best start of the year over C&D last time in a better race than this (0-65 handicap). Would not be a surprise to see him step forward again on that last run having proved himself on this surface.

Now on his 4th run for this yard but hasn't as yet shown much with just one run on this surface before (finished 7th). Now back from a break having run poorly last time out on the AW and despite being potentially well-in at the weights is best watched here.

Steadily getting the hang of things on this surface and has run well in the face of a couple of stiff tasks over 5/6f here the last twice. A repeat of either of those runs would see him in the mix here although he would still be of more interest in a handicap.

Appeared to take a step back in the right direction on his penultimate start over C&D but that was in a claimer and he wasn't in quite the same form back into a handicap last time. Looked rather awkward in demeanour there and still has a little to prove from a yard that is quiet at the moment.

Has shown a little bit of form given a chance by the handicapper and showed that at Newcastle in November off a mark of 55. Not quite in the same form since and ran here over 5f last time out when the test barely looked enough; should be more at home over 6f although never won at this trip.

Never looked totally at home on this surface despite his second here last time over a mile (a trip he struggles to stay). This trip is likely to suit better but his attitude may hold him back here and others can be given a more solid chance.

His only win so far has come over this C&D but in a much better race that this and his form here reads 212. He shaped well after a short break last time out in a 6f Wolverhampton handicap and a return to this surface looks to be ideal especially as this looks weaker than his last outing.

Forecasts

Declamation (5/2), Scotch Myst (3/1), Satchville Flyer (7/2), Clergyman (9/1), Racing Angel (12/1), Gettin' Lucky (12/1), Hugie Boy (12/1), Dusty Bin (20/1), All Or Nothin (25/1)

Verdict

Only a low grade affair but there are a few here that could make their mark in this and in the coming weeks in low-grade handicaps on this surface. SCOTCH MYST tuned up for this on Tapeta but he has a good record here and this looks an easier task than he’s had of late. Declamation is another who looks to have some scope to improve on this surface and he’s well worth watching in the market given his connections. Gettin’ Lucky and Racing Angel are another duo worthy of respect here although both have small question marks over the. One for the future who is well worth bearing in mind here but may just need the run is Clergyman he shaped well earlier in the year and will be interesting with this under his belt.
