Made all to win a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle in August (for Joseph O'Brien) but jumping errors have held him back in two starts for new yard since then. Trip may be on the short side for him now too, and needs to tidy up his technique.

Came good over slightly further here last time out although not without a couple of sketchy jumps late on, and over this shorter trip, he'll need to cut those out from a 9lb higher mark. Obvious chance, but others just as persuasive.

Runner up on all three chase starts so far, and the drop back to the minimum trip looks a good move after not quite getting home over further last time. Trip and likely ground fine and another clear round should see him taking a medal home.

Has impressed in two chase starts to date, winning doing cartwheels at Newbury last time and as that was a conditionals race, goes from the same mark here. Will he tough to beat if in the same mood and obvious chance of following up.

Forecasts

Lake Field (4/9), Middlebrow (11/4), Ramonex (8/1), Manwell (10/1), Valgor Du Ronceray (25/1)

Verdict

This looks at the mercy of LAKE FIELD , an easy winner at Newbury last time and this is arguably easier. He runs from the same mark too, and a repeat of that will be more than enough to see the rest off. Ramonex might be the one to give the favourite the most to do after a solid effort last time and this shorter trip may help. Manwell and MIddlebrow can fight out the bronze, with the former given the nod.
  1. Lake Field
  2. Ramonex
  3. Manwell
