Has claims on the pick of his form but hasn't really shone in three starts over timber this winter for new connections. Others make more appeal on balance of form.

Very consistent 10-year-old who always seems to be there or thereabouts. Because of this the handicapper is reluctant to release his grip and may again find one or two too good.

Usually falls out of the stalls and gives himself plenty to do. A strong gallop would help but will need luck in running. Jockey in fine form at present.

Won over extended mile at Nottingham in July and has run a few decent races since. Step up in trip looks worth a try and yard has had a few winners in recent weeks so of some interest.

Irish raider making his A/W debut here. Last seen finsihing good runner-up in Leopardstown handicap in October, so has claims on that if taking to the new surface.

Jury still out on his ability to show his form on an artifical surface having yet to place in four starts on the 'sand'. Does appear a better horse on turf so has something to prove.

Steps up nearly 2f in trip here and debatable whether this will help his cause. Won on debut last year at Southwell but not convincing so far on Tapeta.

Forecasts

Maratha (9/4), Waarif (11/4), Perfect Soldier (7/2), Toga Tiger (8/1), Sumner Beach (12/1), Harlequin Striker (12/1), First Up (16/1), Cricklewood Green (16/1)

Verdict

This tricky handicap can fall to the Irish raider PERFECT SOLDIER who on balance has porbably the best profile coming into this contest. If they go a good pace then slow starter Waarif might pick them off close home, and Maratha is another potential player if he sees out this longer trip. Old Toga Tiger should run his race but again might have to settle for a place at best.
  1. Perfect Soldier
  2. Waarif
  3. Toga Tiger
