Returned with a fair effort in a bumper at Aintree, shaping as if in need of the run and justified favouritism on debut here on hurdles debut. Shaped like she would enjoy a step up in trip but won't be easy to give weight to all. Hood retained.

Moderate Flat performer but outran her odds when third behind Schiaparannie here last time, fading late on and may have needed the run after a lengthy absence. Obvious player getting 7lb from that rival if she comes on for that effort.

Winner at Sedgefield earlier in the year and returned with a good second at Ayr last time behind a horse that did the form no harm when placing on Saturday. Good chance she will come on for that run and she acts on this ground; leading player.

80/1
Useful pedigree but looks more of a long-term project based on the evidence to date, beaten over 100L on both starts in bumpers. Schiaparannie would appear to be the yard's first string and needs to take a big step forward on hurdles debut.
Improved a little on third start last time when outrunning odds of 50/1 and worth a market check, upped in trip on her seasonal return. Trainer's runners often need the run and percentage suggests she may be best watched this time.

Landed an Ayr bumper in impressive fashion on debut at Ayr but has been a little disappointing subsequently, including two starts over hurdles for this yard. Hard to fancy in current mood and others arrive in better form with stronger claims.

Yet to beat a rival home in seven starts and pulled-up on four of those runs. Needs a huge step forward to land any sort of blow here. Tongue-tie retained.

Won her first two starts in bumpers and placed upped in both Listed company and a Grade 2 at Aintree subsequently. A little disappointing when third of five on reappearance but should strip fitter for that run and can't be ruled out.

10/1
Has shown promise in her bumper starts including on reappearance at this course last month. Entitled to improve for that run and step up in trip likely to be in her favour. Yard have an excellent record around here and likely to be a player.

Forecasts

Petticoat Tails (13/8), Schiaparannie (7/2), Cockley Beck (7/2), Autumn Surprise (8/1), The Mistress (10/1), Gogo Baloo (16/1), Hermanus (18/1), Fencote Belle (80/1), Josephine K (200/1)

Verdict

COCKLEY BECK was only just touched off on her seasonal return in similar conditions to what she will get today and she looks capable of more improvement, upped in trip. Dan Skelton has an excellent record around here and it would be no surprise to see The Mistress take a big step forward on first hurdles start. Autumn Surprise and Schiaparannie weren't far apart when they met last time out and the former may be able to reverse the form in receipt of 7lb.
  1. Cockley Beck
  2. The Mistress
  3. Autumn Surprise
