Won in this grade, over this trip and on heavy ground at Newcastle in February from 4lb lower. Well held twice from 1lb higher in two completed starts since and was a shade disappointing at Wetherby last time. Will need improvement to win.
Has won on both starts at this track, including on heavy over 2m4½f last time when gutsy in holding off 138-rated rival. Looks very fairly treated on that evidence for his handicap debut over fences and drop in trip unlikely to inconvenience.
Dual heavy ground winner who stays 2m4f, though whose last win was over this trip at Hereford in March. Should be competitive from this mark after recent pipe-opener in Listed company at Ascot. Enters calculations.
Won a bumper on heavy a couple of years ago and proved himself over 2m6f when scoring in a Ffos Las novices' hurdle in May. Well held both starts over fences. May do better given that this ground will place more emphasis on stamina. Up against it.
Stays further, though this probably his optimum trip and he goes on heavy. Beat Pistol Park 3L (C&D) in January. 10lb better off with him here after a poor run. Usually needs a couple of warm-up runs and could be primed for this from a handy mark.
Best at around 2m and has won on heavy ground. Arrives on the back of success at Bangor last time, for which he has gone up 6lb. Feather racing weight a plus, though has yet to win from this high-a-mark or in this grade, so needs improvement.
Forecasts
Eamon An Cnoic (2/1), Pistol Park (11/4), Ubaltique (4/1), Positively Dylan (7/1), Uno Valoroso (8/1), Somchine (16/1)
Another competitive heat where it could be the day to catch UBALTIQUE, who goes well here and in testing ground. From today's handy mark, he could leave behind the form of his two runs this autumn. Pistol Park appears to have a tough task on his hands to beat Donald McCain's charge, being 10lb worse off with him for a 3L defeat in January and in any case has a bit to prove after his last run. Eamon An Cnoic is 2-2 here and connections may feel that he is well handicapped, having taken this route after just two runs over fences. He is respected, while Somchine is another who can't be ruled out.
- Ubaltique
- Eamon An Cnoic
