Winner here on seasonal bow over 2m7f jumping hurdles, unable to follow up carrying 6lb penalty. No win over fences since the spring of 2015 and looks high enough in the handicap for return to chasing.
Now 11-years-old and without a win since January 2015 (23 runs), has often run with credit in that sequence, but recent efforts at Newbury and Kempton haven't left much in the way of encouragement.
Placed in a couple of hurdles at 2m-2m1f when there was cut in the ground last winter, has work to do based on two starts over fences this time in at Chepstow and Kempton. Up in trip this time.
Off the mark second time of asking in similar event at Bangor last month (2m4½f, soft), showing good attitude to get the job done. Carries penalty here.
Three-time winner over fences but poor in two runs here this term so far, dramatic drop in distance now and has won over C&D in January. Best form gives him a claim.
Once looked a promising chaser in the making but first start for 630 days came at Chepstow over this sort of trip on testing ground last month and was laboured. Market may be best guide this time.
Won a 2m Ffos Las handicap off a mark of 102 in April on good ground, and fine effort on seasonal reappearance at Chepstow (2m3½f, heavy) to be 5L second of 12 this month. Runs off the same mark here.
Unable to get off the mark in six starts over fences and pulled up both starts this term since joining current yard. Needs a dramatic change in fortune.
Well held in both chase starts this season, though was 14L second of 10 over C&D in October. Winner last time out over timber at Taunton and just 4lb higher now.
Eight-time winner in France but nine starts for current yard come without success. Ran better last time over fences and with a slightly lower mark he could be getting close to that first win for this trainer.
Forecasts
Siruh Du Lac (11/4), The Cider Maker (4/1), Triple Chief (5/1), Admiral's Secret (5/1), Midnight Request (11/2), Looks Like Power (6/1), Only Gorgeous (10/1), Auenwirbel (12/1), Gores Island (16/1), Hurry Henry (40/1)
He'll carry a penalty for his Bangor win but SIRUH DU LAC might be up to defying it. He jumped very nicely on that second chase start and there was plenty to like in his attitude. The suggestion is that he can improve again. Looks Like Power ran a fine race on his return to action and is much-respected here off the same mark while Llancillo Lord, The Cider Maker and Only Gorgeous are worthy of some attention.
