£45,000 Stowaway half-brother to three winners. From a yard that do well in these races and one to note from a pre-race trading perspective.
Cost £100,000 at Cheltenham in March following his impressive success in a point-to-point just a few days earlier. Disappointing favourite on Cheltenham debut, but will strip fitter for a race his trainer has taken with all four previous entrants.

Had a subsequent winner behind when landing a point-to-point in October. Has joined a powerful yard but one which is just 3-20 in these race this term.

Sire was a 50 rated Flat handicapper and dam was a sprint winner on Fibresand. Makes little appeal with that pedigree.

Half-brother to a couple of winners but his pedigree might indicate this trip to be on the sharp side. Nevertheless yard have had a good year in these races (4-17 and four more placed).

Scorpion gelding purchased for €18,000 in June 2016. Showed some promise here in May but this looks a stronger race.
Half-brother to eight winners including French Grade Three winner Tell No One and prolific chase winner Current Event. Also related to some middle-distance winners on the Flat so of definite interest here.
Half-brother to fair hurdler Thatshowhedidit with the dam a lightly raced sort in bumpers. Yard are 3-16 in this discipline this year.

Well beaten on bumper debut when, despite a stamina laden pedigree, he failed to last home. Will be fitter here but this is a highly competitive race.
£35,000 purchase having been placed in two point-to-points. Highly tried here with yard just 3-63 in this class of race.
Recorded the fastest time of the day when landing a Tinahely point-to-point last month. That is a stiff track and this trip around here may be an insufficient test.

Cost €36,000 as a three-year-old and has the benefit of a run, albeit a last of four finish at Aintree. Looked in need of that experience, but considerably more needed and yard are 0-16 in these races this season.
Made £95,000 when he was resold as a three-year-old. Dam failed to achieve much but she is half-sister to very useful hurdle/chase winner See You Sometime. Trainer 4-9 with bumper runners here.

Brother Ceasar Milan made a successful bumper debut and she is in the right hands to try and emulate that feat. The market should be instructive.

Forecasts

Cracking Destiny (5/2), Flash The Steel (3/1), Rocco (4/1), Thibault (7/1), Cotswold Way (10/1), Harambe (14/1), Tiger Sky (20/1), Let's Get At It (25/1), Monk's View (33/1), Lake Washington (33/1), Present From Dubai (40/1), Higgs (40/1), Russian Spy (50/1), Guyboy (125/1)

Verdict

With Nicky Henderson having an exemplary record in this contest, then it is hard to overlook the claims of CRACKING DESTINY who made all to land a point-to-point last spring. He was sent off favourite on his bumper debut at Cheltenham but raced too keenly and faded in the last three furlongs. This shorter trip on a flatter track should help and he is taken to justify his six-figure price tag. Lake Washington has middle-distance blood in his pedigree and looks a potential threat, whilst Cotswold Way, Harambe , Thibault, and Flash The Steel are newcomers from top yards that require checking for moves in the market.
  1. Cracking Destiny
  2. Lake Washington
  3. Thibault
