Ran well in novice company and though she hasn't quite been at that level since going handicapping she has been dropped in the weights for the first time by the handicapper, albeit by just 2lb.

Mildly disappointing on handicap debut at Carlisle last time (beaten 6L despite going off favourite), and having raced too keenly there he'll need to settle better this time round.

Only win and only second placed finish were both over further than this, and he finished last of the five runners on stable debut at Lingfield last time. Best watched on first start on Tapeta.

Made a solid start to his handicap career when third at Chelmsford last time. Drop back to a sprint distance seemed to suit there so he has to be respected off the same mark.

Clearly overrated on maiden/novice form and is already 11lb lower than his opening mark. Slightly better than last twice but probably looking at a place at best in this contest.

Has finished last twice and unseated once in her four starts so far, and so looks a wholly unappealing option even off a predictably low mark on handicap debut.

Forecasts

Magic Mark (2/1), Tiger Lyon (5/2), Global Rose (3/1), Deviate (4/1), Bomad (5/1), Magic Pulse (6/1), Brockey Rise (8/1), Peas On Earth (50/1)

Verdict

The one among these who seems likely to prove a fair bit better than their handicap mark in time is GLOBAL ROSE. Gay Kelleway's charge has shaped encouragingly in three maidens on the turf and as long as she takes to this Tapeta surface on her first attempt at an AW race, she can get off the mark at the fourth time of asking. Tiger Lyon has already has a run in a handicap and caught the eye at Chelmsford last time so looking the danger, ahead of Deviate, who could have a say on the best of her form in novice company.
  1. Global Rose
  2. Tiger Lyon
  3. Deviate
