Showed a fair amount of ability in some moderate bumpers but having fallen on hurdles bow in October, has shown precious little in three further starts. Better last time at Worcester (2m, soft) under positive ride, but still work to do.
Is on a feasible mark now but efforts since winning at Hereford in December last year have been mostly laboured and potentially wants a good bit further than this to be at his best.
In good form around here at the turn of the year on heavy ground. Jumping has been a problem lately and that, with the forecast quick conditions, makes him hard to recommend after latest poor show at Hereford (2m3½f, good to firm) last month.
5L of 3m chase here early last month in first start under rules / for this yard. Unable to back that up time carrying 7lb penalty when showing little enthusiasm and jumping poorly at times. Reverts to hurdles first-time now and interesting.
Mare won in similar conditions/trip at Ayr in March for previous handler and started life for Olly Murphy with 8L second at Towcester last month, jumping tiredly at the last. Can build on that
Best effort under rules so far came on debut at Bangor in a bumper back in April (good ground). Well beaten in three starts over hurdles in the past eight weeks or so (2m5f/2m4f) but could have more to say now handicapping.
Agonisingly denied in conditional/amateur riders events here (2m, soft) and Plumpton (2m4f, good to soft) lately, just 2lb higher mark to contend with now and should go well again.
Record now 0-14 over hurdles and she continues to flatter to deceive. Had been threatening again, including here (2m, soft), before being pulled up at Taunton latest. Hard to trust.
Frustrating sort with just the one victory (from 24 attempts over hurdles) to his name 15 months ago and still racing off a 2lb higher mark. Well held both starts this term and may not fancy very testing ground.
Chances on her Newton Abbot second on soft ground in June but makes little appeal based on what she has done since in seven outings.
Forecasts
Hurricane Rita (3/1), Steel Native (4/1), Flanagans Field (9/2), Double Court (7/1), Hands Of Stone (8/1), Princess Roania (9/1), Asking Questions (12/1), Way Of The World (14/1), Moontripper (25/1), Deckers Delight (33/1)
STEEL NATIVE scored on his rules bow here over fences last month and may be able to leave a poor follow up attempt behind now reverting to hurdles. Hurricane Rita made a solid start for Olly Murphy at Towcester last month (second) and may be able to build on that while Flanagans Field is also entitled to get involved. Handicap debutante Asking Questions is worth noting in the betting.
- Steel Native
- Hurricane Rita
- Flanagans Field
