Autumn course hat-trick (twice C&D) saw him upped 20lb. Struggled next but much better latest when second to Rock On Dandy (goes in Div 1). Such is his record he again enters calculations here.

Hurdle and chase winner is very lightly raced on the flat. Second here last week over a surely inadequate 7f a most pleasing first handicap start and with this trip more like it he is very interesting.

Built on three promising runs when gaining first AW win here last time out over 1m2½f. Previously seemed to stay 1m4f so not out of this despite a rise of 5lb.

Mark unchanged from 7L ninth to Rock On Dandy latest. On that form it's hard to see him finishing infront of Ben Rumson.

25/1
Tramore maiden hurdle winner has shown little in three starts since reverting to the flat. Won off a higher mark for Aidan O'Brien in April 2016 but doesn't appear in form to take advantage of current handicap.

Repare Mon9
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-3| J: P J Smullen| T: T Mullins| OR:  54| CD

Latest effort saw her beaten 4¾ into fourth behind Rock On Dandy (Ben Rumson second). 2lb ease today should mean there is little between her and the top horse.

Still a maiden but ran career best in last flat start when finishing second of 17 at Fairyhouse. 4lb higher today but a similar effort could see him involved in the thick of things here.

Had re-opposing rivals ahead when eighth over C&D here last time out. Ran better than bare form after moderate start but leap of faith to see him turning the tables with principles.

Set To Fireh9
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: S Foley| T: W J Martin| OR:  50

Best form for quite some time latest when third at 33/1 on stable debut splitting Ben Rumson and Repare Mon. Eased 1lb today so looks likely to again run well.

Taste The Salt9
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: Wayne Lordan| T: J P O'Brien| OR:  52
25/1
Ninth on handicap debut last time but taking away the easy winner he wasn't far behind the rest. Eased 1lb here and has each-way potential.

Glimmer Of Hopeb114
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-8| J: N G McCullagh| T: O McKiernan| OR:  45

Maiden of 11 starts only beat one home here latest on his debut for this yard. First-time blinkers need to have quite dramatic effect.

Lizard Pointb14
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-8| J: C P Hoban| T: P J Flynn| OR:  45

Chased home the same horse here the last twice but much further behind in the second of them. That the general story for this seemingly regressive maiden.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: A J Slattery(10)| T: A Slattery| OR:  45

Tenth of 13 here latest beaten 24L. That hardly compelling evidence to recommend him today.

Three figure prices for seven of his nine starts including stable debut latest in a maiden here where he beat just one home. Of very limited ability.

Verdict

Describing an eight-year old as unexposed is quite rare, especially on the flat but that is the case with PASS THE BALL who having had to deal with deep ground and/or inadequate trips so far on the flat could well prove considerably better than his current handicap rating and with conditions finally ideal here he is worth chancing. Ben Rumson is again a danger and he is a fearsome competitor on this surface while Repare Mon is also weighted to go close today.
  1. Pass The Ball
  2. Ben Rumson
  3. Repare Mon
