Lightly raced for his age and came within a head of getting off the mark in a maiden handicap at Yarmouth last time out. Should stay this far and is one for the shortlist off top weight.

C&D winner but hasn't beaten a rival home in his last three starts (Polytrack/Tapeta), and impossible to make a case for in that sort of form.

Course winner in the past and has some good recent form over hurdles, but 129L defeat when sent off favourite here last time is hardly encouraging.

Dropped 3lb from a fourth placed finish at this course last time, and steps up to his longest trip on the Flat so far, though he stayed further over jumps. Plenty more needed.

Finished second (albeit a distant second) at this course last time over further. May well appreciate this drop down in trip and has won at the course previously, so must be respected.

Steps back up in trip having won over shorter at this course last time. Up 4lb but remains a player if proving that he stays this far (finished last on previous attempt at this distance).

No win on the AW since a C&D victory in August 2014. However ran well over shorter here last time and should enjoy the return to this longer trip.

Only win came over further than this but with the emphasis this track tends to put on stamina he may be able to use the trip to his advantage. Blinkers are applied.

Has looked like she should stay this far in previous races, but needs to step up on form shown so far on his first start for this yard.

Some fair form when trained by Sir Mark Prescott but not so good since both over hurdles and on the Flat. Needs to improve on all recent efforts on second start for this trainer.

Unconvincing on Fibresand debut over shorter here last time, and stamina is unproven over this trip. Others hold more convincing claims.

Verdict

At this track it's important to follow those who stay the trip well, especially over longer distances, and ALTERNATE ROUTE fits the bill here. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding won his only race over 2m and despite not running up to his short odds the last twice this drop in trip in addition to the application of blinkers should help him despite him being 12lb higher than his sole winning mark to date. Good Time Ahead arrives here in good form and also needs considering, as does recent course runner-up Bertie Moon.
