Has produced six poor displays under both codes since finishing a good fourth at Punchestown in May. Yet to win a race and hard to fancy despite positive jockey booking.

Timely Gift26
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-3| J: R Patrick| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  90
7/2
Narrow winner of a slowly run race last time at Ffos Las when improving significantly for the slower ground. Needs to tidy up his jumping and this looks a more competitive contest.

Lady Longshott15
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: Kieron Edgar| T: J Scott| OR:  90

Third of five last time when readily outpaced. Longer trip a plus on this stiff track a plus and trainer took this in 2010.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Conor Ring(3)| T: Evan Williams| OR:  87
9/4
Best effort came in a bumper here but he has shown little aptitude for hurdling since. Well beaten on handicap debut and his mark probably has a lot further to fall.

Just Spot342
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Tom Cheesman| T: K Bishop| OR:  85
40/1
Winner of a Towcester chase in April 2015 but pulled up on both starts since. Off the track almost a year and hard to fancy.

Starlit Night37
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-7| J: C Gethings| T: C J Down| OR:  80
12/1
Positive tactics brought a narrow success at Newton Abbot in September. Tailed off on both starts since and this softer ground appears unlikely to produce the improvement needed.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-6| J: Mitchell Bastyan| T: J D Frost| OR:  79

Claims on her Taunton fifth in February but well beaten on all starts since. Mark continues to tumble and respected conditional on board, but she remains difficult to recommend.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-4| J: Jamie Bargary| T: Mrs L J Young| OR:  77

C&D third a month ago was followed by a weaker effort when it was disclosed he burst blood vessels. Remains a maiden after 15 races, but top rider booked and chances are respected if staying healthy.

Orbit Lightt31
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Charlie Deutsch| T: Mark Gillard| OR:  72
40/1
Distant third at in September and tailed off both starts since. She would appear to be of little account.

Oh Dear Oh Dear16
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Charlie Hammond(3)| T: R J Hodges| OR:  67
16/1
Ran well in a better race than this at Chepstow from 9lb out of the weights. 6lb "wrong" here but cannot be ruled with an underrated rider able to claim an allowance.

Forecasts

Virginia Chick (9/4), Timely Gift (7/2), Lady Longshot (7/2), Whiskey John (8/1), Seaboard (10/1), Starlit Night (12/1), Oh Dear Oh Dear (16/1), Gilly Grace (25/1), Just Spot (40/1), Orbit Light (40/1)

Verdict

This contest will take little winning, but there are few in this that look good enough to even win a race as poor as this. Timely Gift has actually managed to cross the line in front recently, but that was a slowly run race at Ffos Las when he was outsider of five and the form may be misleading. Whiskey John was third over C&D and burst blood vessels next time. The booking of Jamie Bargary is positive and he should be in the shake up if remaining sound. LADY LONGSHOT'S best performances have come over this trip and she would have found 2m too sharp at Wincanton last time. The stiff track here may compensate for a lack of pace and she has each-way claims. Oh Dear Oh Dear ran better than her final position suggests last time and is another to consider despite being 6lb out of the weights.
  1. Lady Longshot
  2. Whiskey John
  3. Oh Dear Oh Dear
